July 2020[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to Queer art—because it did not appear constructive. Disambiguation link notification for July 18[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Queer art, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages National, Privilege and Latino (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Replaceable fair use File:Ming Wong at his studio in Berlin 2016.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ming Wong at his studio in Berlin 2016.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Big Bad Wolfowitz (aka Hullaballoo). Treated like dirt by many administrators since 2006. Question[edit]

Are you Islandchime (talk · contribs)? Said user has gone inactive shortly after you began editing. If you are, I suggest you declare it openly, as others might accuse you of sockpuppetry without knowing the full context. I'm gonna guess you forgot the password for that account? 60.119.41.123 (talk) 08:01, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up, I've added the alternative account template to my user page. Apologies, hadn't realised it would pose an issue! Mordantgrove (talk) 10:16, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, perhaps you want to add a reason why are you having an alternate account (for example forgotten password for the original account?) to clarify why are you having an alternate account. This will reduce any possible issues that might arise in the future. Thanks! Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 07:31, 15 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've indicated the reason for this account in my user page, thanks. While both accounts focus on creating articles about art history, art practices, and artists, I'd made this account in particular to focus on creating articles related to queer art practices, which I wanted distinct from the other account. Though when I'm doing general maintenance on articles, I tend to just use the account that I'm logged into at the moment, not sure if that causes confusion for others? Mordantgrove (talk) 08:23, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As long as the declaration is made, I think it should be fine. For maintenance issues, if you had made an edit on that article with islandchime, do use islandchime to edit as much as possible. This is to reduce other editors' perception that you used two accounts to reinforce each account's edits. As I am not an admin and my interpretation might not be accurate, there might be other issues. Thanks for all the contributions to Singapore's art scene. Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 11:46, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'll do that in the future! Really appreciate the heads up. And thank you for all your amazing work too! Mordantgrove (talk) 04:12, 17 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
