Consensus[edit]

Hi Michael Cambridge. Please don't post comments about Nikola Tesla's nationality/ethnicity/homeland on talk:Nikola Tesla. As you know, consensus is that these comments can only be posted on Talk:Nikola Tesla/Nationality and ethnicity. Also, you are repeating arguments that you and other editors have already made, and that consensus has determined are invalid for purposes of Tesla's biography. Continuing to argue tendentiously against clear consensus is disruptive and may result in you being blocked from editing if you continue. Thank you. - MrX 11:12, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks MrX, I won't let it happen again.Michael Cambridge 11:58, 16 June 2015 (UTC)

Assumptions of bad faith and Single purpose account[edit]

Micheal your continued accusations of bad faith against those who do no agree with you are not appropriate[1]. Just stop with the bad faith accusations. If you cannot influence the debate without resorting ad hominem attacks then you are likely to find Wikipedia the wrong place for you.

We aim for a neutral encyclopedia and you insisting that people are somehow "anti-Croatia" has a chilling effect on that neutrality. If you are worried about getting blocked then that is exactly the sort of thing that will get you there. The assumption of good faith is something we require here as long as it is reasonable to do so.

While I am an admin please understand that I have no intention of taking action myself due to my involvement, but I have seen this enough to know what will happen. Not only are you being abusive to other editors but your account is only used for this one topic, which is not good. I have to ask you, are you here to write an encyclopedia or are you here to present a specific view about Tesla? Chillum 14:19, 16 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your concern Chillum and I will stop attacking other editors for what I perceive to be injustice against Wikipedia. I am here to write an encyclopedia beginning with the Nikola Tesla article. I am sorry to have stirred up trouble.Michael Cambridge 02:15, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Why aren't you signing your name using ~~~~ ? --Bob K31416 (talk) 13:27, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have been typing four tildes after each post but for some reason it appears the way it does, first with my name in black and then in red. I don't know what I am doing wrong. When I first started editing I didn't have this problem.Michael Cambridge 15:13, 17 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I've seen you have a problem with your signature. You could try the following solution. Go here and uncheck "Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link)" under "Signature". Detoner (talk) 12:34, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hello, I was recently blocked for having multiple accounts and engaging in sock puppetry. The sock puppetry that was exhibited was in an edit war on the 'Nikola Tesla' article. I realise what I did was very wrong and against Wikipedia policy. The other two accounts that I have were made to edit other articles where as this account is used to mainly edit the 'Nikola Tesla' article. I never used the other two accounts to support a particular position on the Nikola Tesla talk page. I succumbed to temptation to use the other two accounts in an edit war. I am very sorry for this action and I will never do it again. If you wish, you may delete my two other accounts and I will only use this one. I hope that this issue can be resolved. Thank you.Michael Cambridge 12:55, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Declining for now unless editor explicitly agrees to broadly construed topic ban on Nikola Tesla and any other articles related Serbian/Croatian nationalism. OhNoitsJamie Talk 17:09, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello OhNoitsJamie Talk , thank you for responding to my request to be unblocked. I was hoping to be granted a second chance to show that I can partake in discussions on the Nikola Tesla talk page in a polite and considered manner. It is completely understandable that permission has been denied to me to engage in discussions on the Nikola Tesla talk page given my past behaviour. I hope that you have a change of heart on this matter and offer me a second chance. I apologise to the blocking administrator Bbb23 for my recalcitrant conduct that led me to being blocked. I agree to comply with a broadly construed topic ban on Nikola Tesla and any other articles related Serbian/Croatian nationalism if a second chance is not granted to me. I also wish to be able to edit articles unrelated to the matters in question in a positive and constructive fashion. Thank you.Michael Cambridge 13:21, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 23:19, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Given my involvement in this dispute I will naturally not be reviewing this request. I will point out though that you have a history of passionately denying sock puppetry accusations, while giving every indication that you are engaging in such behaviour. I think this may have been the first time you were caught red handed, but I also think you have done this before. The timing of your arrival and the duplicate agenda you have shown compared to previous sock puppets on that page convinces me that this account is not your first either.
I find the apology to be disingenuous. You have shown that your nationalistic POV is more important to you than engaging in good faith discussions with others users. You did not just use the alternate account to edit war but also to argue as though a new person the name agenda you have argued. It is more important for you to get your version of history shown than any sense of fair play or neutrality. I think your unblock request is simply saying what you think they want to hear.
Like I said my involvement precludes me from making any decision here, but I do hope the reviewing administrators takes my words into account. Chillum 14:40, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I used the alternate account to argue a certain position but I never supported it with either of my other two accounts as I explained in the request to be unblocked. You think that I have done this before but I haven't. The sock puppetry accusations were in relation to the blocked user Asdisis, I am not his sock and this was proven to be true.Michael Cambridge 21:19, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
I have been observing the edit dispute at Nikola Tesla since Michael got involved. I have been involved at intervals in the dispute, but I have no opinion on the Serb/Croat issue. As far as I can see, the only activity of this editor on WP has been to tenaciously POVPUSH his nationalist cause. He has no other interest. Although Michael is a smooth talker, he has shown no respect for WP collaboration, NPA, or neutral point of view policies. He was a loyal comrade-in-arms and defender of Asdisis, the legendary sockpuppeteer and most extreme POVPUSHer I have ever seen, and since Asdisis was blocked he has been the most aggressive tendentious editor on the Nikola Tesla Talk page. I also find his above apology insincere, considering his extensive history of lying about his sockpuppetry. I think he is committed enough that if he thinks he can get away with it, he will engage in sockpuppetry again. I don't see any sign that he cares about WP, it is just a platform for his political advocacy. Note that he makes no apology for his disruptive editing on Talk:Nikola Tesla or his single-issue pro-Croatia campaign. If he is unblocked he will go back to doing what he was doing before. --ChetvornoTALK 00:45, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your input Chetvorno. It is true that I was using this account for the purpose of editing the Nikola Tesla article. As you can see from my other two accounts, they were mostly used to edit other articles. This supposed POV pushing you are accusing me of was always backed up by reliable sources. Whoever is involved in reviewing my request for an unblock can investigate the matter as thoroughly as they please and will see that I have spoken truthfully in regard to sock puppetry claims. If I am unblocked I will not only use this account to edit the Nikola Tesla article but other articles as well in a constructive manner. Chetvorno, you accuse me of having an extensive history of lying about my sock puppetry. Once again I repeat, I said that I was not a sock of the banned user Asdisis. When a sock puppet investigation was launched into this it was shown that I was not a sock of Asdisis. Any thorough investigation will show that I do not have an "extensive history of lying.." about my sock puppetry. I have not lied about my other two accounts I simply didn't mention that they were mine. So that was not a lie but a secret. I should not have engaged in an edit war with my alternate accounts and I am ashamed to have done that. I sincerely apologise for my actions, I knew they were wrong at the time, but let him who hath not sinned cast the first stone. I ask for forgiveness and that I may be granted a second chance.Michael Cambridge 03:40, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
The only thing I believe you regret is being caught. Not only have you claimed innocence over and over when accused of sock puppetry and pushing an agenda you have accused anyone who disagrees with you of having a nationalist POV. Your words lack sincerity. The only reason you are showing any remorse at all is because you were caught, prior to that you were all accusations. Chillum 03:48, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In all honesty, I was hoping to get away with the sock puppetry. I have been totally open and transparent in my defense here. I apologise for all my transgressions and humbly request for the block to be lifted.Michael Cambridge 05:26, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
  • What do you plan on doing if you are unblocked? For myself, the only way I'd unblock you with the condition that you refrain from editing the Tesla article. To be completely honest, I get the impression if you were to be unblocked and continue to edit the Tesla article, you would just be eventually re-blocked. I'll admit that I'm not really inclined to unblock you given that you have a history of sockpuppetry and POV pushing. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:08, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • AND especially since you don't seem to be particularly inclined to see any of your past behavior as bad or feel like apologizing until you were caught. Your comment above "I will stop attacking other editors for what I perceive to be injustice against Wikipedia" a few months ago is a good example of the POV pushing angle. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:09, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) for taking the time to review my case. My disruptive behavior on the Tesla article was out of pure frustration because no consensus was reached for my proposed edits. I hope that you grant me clemency and if necessary ban me from editing the Nikola Tesla article. I have said what I wanted to say on the Nikola Tesla talk page. It was the one article I felt the most passionate about. Once again I am very sorry for my behavior. I have learnt my lesson. I would like to show that I can be a constructive editor of Wikipedia in the future.Michael Cambridge 12:28, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Considering you promised to stop attacking other editors in the past yet continued since to accuse anyone who disagreed with you of being a nationalistic POV pusher I would say it would be an error in judgement to take your word at this point. I would also recommend a word with the blocking admin before any unblock. Chillum 14:22, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I realise that I have lost your trust Chillum.I am embarrassed and ashamed of what I have done. I would like to take this oppurtunity to apologise to you personally for not heeding your warnings.Michael Cambridge 15:34, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Considering your tone has been venomous since I first encountered you then you will see why I find your sudden sweet tone to be disingenuous. You are only trying to act with sincerity now that you have been caught. Chillum 15:36, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You are right Chillum, I am being sincere now because I was caught. As I explained earlier, I knew what I did was wrong but I was hoping to get away with the sock puppetry. I can't be any more honest than that. I hope that you can accept my apology.Michael Cambridge 15:42, 22 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

He is apologizing here, but evading block already and announcing reverts and edit-wars, see Talk:Serbs of Croatia, at bottom, the comments of 141.138.50.1, 141.136.206.141 and 89.164.239.139 are him. FkpCascais (talk) 11:08, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me FkpCascais but those editors are not me. A sock puppet investigation will prove that I have not evaded a block. I am waiting patiently for a final verdict on my case.Michael Cambridge 11:36, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This diff is you, and it is the same person who is participating in that debate. Participating in a discussion as a same person using 3 different IPs but forgetting that in the first one you admitted to be a blocked user leaves no doubts. You were not careful. FkpCascais (talk) 11:44, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well it is not me. I hope that nobody is trying to frame me simply because they don't want to see me editing again.Michael Cambridge 11:57, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
Seems Chillum already mentioned one of the IP as suspect sock of Asdisis, so my mistake, I mix the two of you. FkpCascais (talk) 12:40, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No problem.Michael Cambridge 12:48, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
@Michael Cambridge: I would be very interested in your answer to Tokyogirl79's question: What do you plan on doing if you are unblocked? Would you stay away from content related to Serbian/Croatian nationalism, broadly construed? - MrX 14:16, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
MrX, if I am unblocked and banned from editing the Nikola Tesla article then that is fine. I can see that my attempts at gaining consensus for my proposed edits was getting nowhere. I have little interest in editing content on other articles regarding Serbian/Croatian nationalism, it was only with the Tesla article that I felt most passionately about the issue. However, I am interested in the history of the Military Frontier and the province of Lika and I may be of value in editing these articles if need be. I encourage the use of whatever surveillance measures are available to Wikipedia to keep an eye on any future edits to show that I am sincere in wanting to edit constructively. If I do continue to edit it will be mostly on articles that have no relation to Serbia/Croatia or Serbians/Croatians. I haven't engaged in discussions on other articles regarding Serbian/Croatian nationalism and if it is advised that I don't get involved then I won't. If I need to make a special request first in order to get involved in these discussions then that is fine too.Michael Cambridge 23:43, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Bbb23:, I would like to have my case reviewed again. It has been over 12 months since I was blocked and I haven't opened any new accounts to edit with. I have apologised for my actions as you can see in the comments. I hope that you can show some clemency toward me so that I may move forward as a valuable Wikipedia editor.
