A tag has been placed on Ireland's Vanishing Triangle, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DASHBot (talk) 06:00, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

KTRY

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on KTRY, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ruskinmonkey (talk) 11:15, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on MoonRise requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Haruth (talk) 20:18, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Removed per guidelines. Sorry about that - forgot that the US govt. is way ahead of the rest of us in copyright laws as pertaining to their own agencies. Now I can get on and do what I was supposed to do there in the first place... :-) Best wishes. Haruth (talk)
Cool, thanks for taking care of that. It will save the admins some time.--RadioFan (talk) 20:48, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Shirin M. Rai

Sorry about that! I wasn't meaning to come off as offensive --- though I'd equally argue that referring to an actual person whose work is very well regarded in academic circles (that a googlesearch on book reviews can show, etc., keynote addresses to and publications for the UN, etc.) as lacking impact can equally be seen as negative. Athena86 (talk) 15:43, 4 July 2011 (UTC) Athena86

You seem pretty wrapped up in this topic and you need to take a step back and look at it objectively if you'd like to see this article kept. You are new here and I'm trying to help you understand the guidelines and policies used to judge whether a subject is notable. Notability of professors are judged based on WP:PROF. You might be able to show notability according to WP:BIO but there has to be references proving any claims made. That's not negative, thats just how Wikipedia works. Encouraging other editors to "read" comes off as condescending. That's not how Wikipedia works. I thought it worth pointing out, especially since are new.--RadioFan (talk) 15:50, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough. I suppose 'lack of impact' and 'read' can both come off condescendingly, regardless of what the other person's intention was. Athena86 (talk) 16:18, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Athena86
Please understand that impact is defined by Wikipedia policies and guidelines, not by me or any other individual editor. Dont take this personally.--RadioFan (talk) 16:21, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Google hit count on Shirin M. Rai

Remember that the goal here is to write a well referenced informative article, not a game of "find her name mentioned somewhere" : Kinda hard not to take that personally/condescendingly. I don't think intelligent people spend their free time writing articles to play some kind of game .... More to the point, the references mentioned were all related to the United Nations/World Bank (biggest non-academic institutions she's participated in), so I don't really see how they were irrelevant? Thanks. Athena86 (talk) 18:59, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Athena86

Sorry if you took that personally. it was intended as good advice on how to save this article (which you seem interested in doing). Random links to the name being mentioned in books posted to AFDs or talk pages, dont help improve the article and far less relevant that well formed content in the article itself with these books used as references. Too many editors spend lots of time Googling a subject in an attempt to save the article from deletion. Remember Google hits dont equate to notability.--RadioFan (talk) 19:40, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Google hit count on Shirin M. Rai

Ah, I get what you mean. To improve the article, I basically need to insert those references where appropiate instead of leaving them on the AfD or Talk pages. :) Okay, I'll do that. Thanks for the help! Athena86 (talk) 19:47, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Athena86

That will be far more constructive, yes. Doing it on the talk pages or AFDs is essentially doing half the work and leaving the rest for others who may or may not follow through with it.--RadioFan (talk) 20:27, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Redirects under "Teledyne"

RadioFan: On 29 March 2011, you redirected pages for "Teledyne Brown Engineering" into the Subsidaries section of "Teledyne Technologies|Teledyne". The existing pages for Teledyne are very inadequate, and I am ready to insert a total revision including a History section. For this, I respectfully request that you reverse the two noted redirects.

Reasons: (1) Teledyne Brown Engineering is of no greater importance than many other present companies listed under Other Subsidiaries. It is, however a historically noteworthy firm, and I have also prepared an appropriate revision (mainly under History) for this and will put it up after it is reversed. (2) Teledyne Post was never a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies, but also has historical importance. I will prepare an appropriate update for Post, as well as several other noteworthy companies of the original Teledyne, Inc.

I would appreciate a reply to my request as soon as possible. Having been a senior officer within this "family" for 45 years, I am fully knowledgeable of these firms. Raymond C. Watson, Jr. (talk) 18:02, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

The former article under Teledyne Brown Engineering was redirected to the main parent article on Teledyne because Teledyne Brown Engineering there is no indication that the it warrants a dedicated article under wikipedias notability guidelines. It can be adequately covered under the parent article. Additionally, because of the connection you have with the company, I would encourage you not to edit either article but instead make recommendations on Talk:Teledyne for another interested editor to make on your behalf. I've left some information on your talk page about conflict of interest and how it is normally handled on Wikipedia.--RadioFan (talk) 18:06, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Editor removing your tag

See User talk:Dougweller#You keep modifying my edits, this is about the references tag you placed at Afghana, which I've restored. You might like to comment somewhere, not necessarily on my talk page. Dougweller (talk) 06:45, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I've also posted to Talk:Afghana describing an edit of his where he seems to have taken a quote, rewritten and misinterpreted it, and added it to the article as a block quote for emphasis. I've removed it to the talk page and asked him for an explanation. I hope he has a good one as I've found him misrepresenting sources before. Dougweller (talk) 11:53, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hi there, please take care when tagging articles as unreferenced BLPs, as you did recently with Dusko Lukic, which is sourced! Regards, GiantSnowman 13:07, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Haskell Family Association

Hello Radio Fan, I am writing you about the article I wrote regarding the Haskell Family Association, while I am the chairman of the group the article is not about myself and I did make every effort to make the article informative, not an advertisement. The group has been in existence for over 26 years and has done extensive genealogical research and publication, the HFA has published 78 issues of the Journal in those 26 years and regularly places those copies in libraries and genealogical research centers around the country. If you can give me some idea of what parts of the entry are particularly bothersome I will happily delete them, but it is a group of note and I've made every effort to show my connection to the group and desire to avoid a conflict of interest.

Best regards, Carey Haskell

Radio fan, A follow-up to my original message. I've deleted the HFA wikipedia entry contents following your spam accusations, my intent was never to advertise or spam but I don't have the time to try and prove my entry wasn't spam.

Careyhaskell (talk) 13:55, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

It was written in the first person, but the CEO of the company. Whether that was your intention or not, it was hard to see it as anything but spam. The copyright issue was the primary reason for deletion. Wikipedia is very sensitive to this.--RadioFan (talk) 17:05, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

I think you must be confusing mine with a different entry, the HFA is not a company, it's a non-profit family history association, I am the chairman of it, but made that clear on my user page and initial discussion page of the entry. The entry was not written in the first person. And there was no copyrighted information in the entry, you didn't even give copyright as one of your "reasons for deletion".Careyhaskell (talk) 22:26, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Regarding references

Hi Dear RadioFan, regarding the number of references on Afghana page, I respect and appreciate your views. However, this page was intended to be a research article. If you and I desire Wiki to be a research friendly source then we must appreciate the needs of a researcher. I mean, a few more references would only take a few bytes on the Wiki servers but through an article like this which is pivotal to Afghan history Wikipedia will be enhanced many fold. I myself have published several research articles and Wiki really helped as a starting point. I hope you understand. I would really appreciate it if you did not remove the said references. This is a vague part of history that even many researchers dont know about and such references will help them greatly. As for their verification, I did check them out, of all the references I had to begin with, I only used ones which can be readily verified online, which is sad and assuring at the same time. Sad because it didnt allow me to use the more rare ancient texts and manuscripts. Assuring in that anybody can check them online. Thanx. Take care. Dr Pukhtunyar Afghan (talk) 20:09, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia isn't a web host which is what you describe above is bordering on. References in articles are supposed to demonstrate where information came from, not serve as a bibliography on the topic. Please review the article and cull some of the references. Leaving this task to another editor will likely result in references you feel strongly about being removed.--RadioFan (talk) 22:01, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I promise that I will review and refine it. I would also like you to check the talk page for a reply of mine. Also, would it be more appropriate if the said references are mentioned in a further reading section?? Dr Pukhtunyar Afghan (talk) 22:34, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
WIthin reason, meaning a couple of selected items that readers of the article will find pertinent. Not 30 or 40 books and journals.--RadioFan (talk) 01:59, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
