Page Break on AfD

Actually what I was trying to do here was just create a page break so as we continue with the discussion it isn't tough trying to figure out where things are. ANI uses breaks all the time, so I just used one there. - NeutralhomerTalk • 12:42, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

I've never seen sections added in an AFD before. There are a number of tools that automate tasks with AFDs so it's probably best to avoid them. The {{outdent}} tag does a nice job of dealing with deep indenting and making the conversation easy to read.--RadioFan (talk) 14:14, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Neither had I, but I like to be different. :) Guess we will have to stick with the OD. Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk • 14:31, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Re:Elephant image

Hi, Thanks for the info. Please attribute as Muhammad Mahdi Karim, www.micro2macro.net. Looking forward to the link, Regards --Muhammad(talk) 07:30, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

You are credited on the slide, I'll send along the link when its available.--RadioFan (talk) 11:59, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

I am thinking that since WQHS Radio is the predecessor of the current WXPN, that the "WQHS Radio" article could be merged into the WXPN article. If you look in the first couple sentences of the WXPN article, it actually talks about a "730 AM", which "WQHS Radio" was on previously. It appears that WXPN (on 730 AM) has history going back to 1945, which would be neat to have. Also, with both stations owned by the University of Pennsylvania, they have a school connection as well. So, dePROD and merge? - NeutralhomerTalk • 02:52, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Sounds good, go for it.--RadioFan (talk) 03:05, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Alright, let me track down an admin and have them merge the two together. Will let you know when that is complete. - NeutralhomerTalk • 20:06, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Just messaged User:28bytes‎, so it should get merged soon. - NeutralhomerTalk • 20:12, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Alright, he will be merging the two later on today. In the meantime, I have dePROD'd the WQHS article for safety sake so it doesn't get deleted early (it happens). Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk • 20:49, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi RF... just a quick question: why do you feel that a source from a CT state university is unreliable? Best, Markvs88 (talk) 04:04, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

This source appears to be a personal webpage (based on the tilde and userid). Usually this indicates a student's page but here this appears to be a professor who has some interest in this area. I've removed the concern about reliable sources but this article still needs better sourcing. The professor's page states the book he got the information from, you should consider starting there.--RadioFan (talk) 12:28, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
It's a widely-used reference in CT malls, as (let's face it, we're talking about malls here...) there are so few sources that aren't from their parent companies to work with. Yeah, but OTOH if ECSU allowed it to be up, it passes the bare minimum of muster. There's far worse sources being used in too many articles (Patch.Com comes to mind)... but I do see what you mean that it isn't exactly the NYT or WSJ. Thanks for the reliable tag, and I absolutely agree that this (and most of the other) CT mall pages need better sourcing. Best, Markvs88 (talk) 14:50, 13 December 2011 (UTC)
As I said, the reference is fine and I've removed the concern. It does still need more than a single reference.--RadioFan (talk) 16:14, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

WAFC

I cannot find a source for the Christmas Format except that I live in the listening arrea and it IS all Christmas. I provided a link that shows the station as True Oldies Channel affiliate. Im not sure what else you want. It is certainly no longer radio fiesta — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.132.5.64 (talk) 03:10, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Holiday formats are temporary and while it might be appropriate to include in the body of the article. I assure you this station has not permanently changed to Christmas music. Please dont change the infobox without references to back up this claim. Your personal listening doesnt cut it as it is original research.--RadioFan (talk) 03:50, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

If you read the entire source, it states the change to oldies will happen AFTER the stunting format. I included that info in the article I also posted the link showing it as a new affilate of the true oldies channel. Not sure what else you need here. The source firmly states that the station is no longer radio fiesta. The page that you keep restoring is 100% false. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.132.5.64 (talk) 11:18, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

You keep talking about this source, what source? There is no source in the article. There is no source mentioned in the talk page of the article. Please look at WP:CITE for help in properly including a source or share it here and I'll help you cite it. Also, please sign your posts. There is information on your talk page on how to do it.--RadioFan (talk) 14:40, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Im done with this and dont have the time to argue with you. Please follow the page, what I posted with references was 100% accurate. What you restored was 100% inaccurate. Likely no one else will notice or care...Good Luck — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.132.5.64 (talk) 19:55, 15 December 2011 (UTC) Here is the linking showing it as a true Oldies channel station http://www.trueoldieschannel.com/Article.asp?id=1517630. Here is the article that states the format change and Christmas stunting http://www.radio-info.com/news/more-holiday-flips-over-the-thanksgiving-break You are correct, I dont kow how to do this properly. I included both of these on my last edit and I see them when I look at the archive. Not sure what Im doing wrong. I also dont know how to sign anything. If you have the time to edit the page properly, please do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.132.5.64 (talk) 12:26, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

While this is probably true, it's not reached the point of verifiable. The radio-info.com link above is interesting and likely true but it doesn't meet Wikipedia's requirements for reliable sources because it is self-published. The other link is to a syndicated radio show which are dont always have the best oversight on their station list, including information long before and long after the program is actually aired there. Also it's a good clue that this station is flipping but does not sufficiently source the format change information. Once this information has made it into a source with some level of editorial control (a newspaper, magazine, or even a blog by a professional journalist) then the information can be changed. Since the format is questionable, I've removed it. Unfortunately that's the best we can do until better sources are available. I'm sorry this process frustrates you and I see that you are new to Wikipedia but sourcing information is taken very seriously. I'm happy to help you navigate the process, its actually more straight forward that it seems.--RadioFan (talk) 14:04, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your help, and I apologise if I was unprofessional. I have edited pages before, many on NYC subway stations. Im afraid, that we may never get the source needed to actually post the new format. The station is a minor am station in a very small market. Not sure that a format switch on a small station would make bigger news formats. I have also noticed that many of the affiliates listed on the True Oldies Channel wiki page are totally false. Many have totally fliiped formats and some have even switched call letters. Maybe the affiliates portion of that page is not appropriate since it changes so much. But that is a job for someone who know how to do this better than me, and a discussion for the TOC wiki page....Thanks again — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.132.5.64 (talk) 14:41, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

You changes to WSHR

Hey, I was wondering how you got the facebook link and logo design approved to go on the WSHR wiki page. I am a student that works at the station and I designed the station logo myself, but when I uploaded it it was removed due to "copy right infringement" when I personally made it in illustrator. I am new to wiki editing and I only wanted to edit our radio page so people can see our new logo and check out our facebook page and I was wondering how you did it without wiki undoing your changes.

Thanks

Re: When People Were Shorter...

Hi RadioFan! Thanks for your interest in the When People Were Shorter and Lived Near the Water article. In general, you may want to have a look at the criteria for inclusion listed at WP:BAND, which will help you determine which musical group Wiki articles qualify for deletion and which do not. Since the group described in the When People Were Shorter article in fact qualify for at least two, and probably more like four or five, of the 12 criteria, I thought that you may not have seen this list and would thus want to give it a look before embarking upon future deletion projects. Happy editing! Colinclarksmith (talk) 15:39, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm familiar with WP:BAND and felt that this article is borderline at best in meeting criteria there. Which specific criteria did you feel this article meets? The only one I saw even being close was that it is supposedly signed to a notable independent label but the notability of that label is questionable as well. Without references to significant coverage, it's hard to tell how this article might meet guidelines. -RadioFan (talk) 16:44, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
In addition to #5, which you mention, I think #6 is most relevant: Is an ensemble which contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a member of two or more independently notable ensembles. This is clearly the case with Dave Rick and Chris Xefos, who have sold 100s of thousands of records with their other groups, and whose significance is attested to in their own articles. Also, I think #s 1 and 12 probably apply as well, but it is immaterial. Best, Colinclarksmith (talk) 16:55, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
I dont believe the article begins to explain why the subject is important. I will take it to AFD however.--RadioFan (talk) 20:44, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
As far as I can tell, you've only established that the article needs more references, as the importance of its subject was established by the denial of your proposed A7, and is furthermore implicit in the text of the article (e.g., it clearly meets #6 due to having two blue-linked members; it clearly meets #5 due to the contents of the discography section.) I understand your lack of familiarity with the genre, but these are noted musicians from an established sub-genre. If you want more references, ask for that, but why come on so strong with your deletion project? Colinclarksmith (talk) 20:55, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
Notability needs to be established in the article. Readers aren't mind readers. The article is currently prod'd. If you disagree, please correct the issues and remove the prod. The article isn't going to get improved here.--RadioFan (talk) 21:47, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
They needn't be mind readers, just text readers :) . I will make a project of overhauling the article and addressing your concerns. Let's just remember that verifiability has been established, so your objections relate to the article and its contents, not the subject matter's legitimacy in Wikipedia's context. Therefore, criticism should suggest improvements for its execution, not call for its deletion. Colinclarksmith (talk) 23:16, 21 December 2011 (UTC)

I will leave it to your expertise here. There are some significant sourcing problems with this article. There is only 1 source of any reliability. The band's myspace page , while interesting, is a primary source. Notable acts have things written about them, please find and use those.--RadioFan (talk) 02:46, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

notifying editors

I see you have been making multiple PROD and other deletion nominations without notifying the editors. This is not actually required, because there are some special circumstances like trolling or banned or long-departed editors where it might be inappropriate, but in ordinary circumstances almost everyone here does it--it's very easy with Twinkle. Surely you subscribe to the policy that improvement is better than deletion when possible, and it is therefore appropriate to give editors every chance to improve. Most new editors do not understand watchlists, but , if they at least come back for a second time, they'll see the notice when they log in. DGG ( talk ) 17:56, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

withdrawn deletion nominations

I see that at least 4 of your recent AfD nomination proved so very notable that you withdrew them yourself, and that several others were closed as speedy keeps by a variety of people. Perhaps it would be more efficient if you checkedBEFORE placing the deletion tag. (Most are in areas where I am not competent to judge or even !vote--I'm going by the decisions of other editors--and your own better thought.) I see, in fact, that fewer than half of your deletion nominations are actually being deleted. (and again, almost all of them by the decision of other people than myself, for that same reason they're mostly in fields I cannot judge). And this is perhaps not surprising, for I notice that a quite a number of the deletion nominations are for reasons that are not deletion reasons: "likely a notable topic but not in its current form", "likely notable, but only the most basic information", "tagged for over a year without improvement". Nobody can be right all the time, but this is unacceptable accuracy. What most people aim for is 90%. I've seen serious complaints against those who fall even to 80%, though I would not make them at that level. DGG ( talk ) 18:08, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

WYNR Page

Hi,

I am the Operations Manager for WYNR, and I noticed that you had created the stub based on our website. Many thanks for that, but we have since started using a different logo. Being a newbie editor, I was trying to figure out how to replace the logo you have uploaded for teh station with a more accurate one.

Thanks Ryfun Ryfun (talk) 21:25, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

That article was created nearly 4 years ago and has been worked on by a number of editors. Thanks for putting a note here, you may also do the same thing on the article's talk page if you have suggestions on improving the article. However you should avoid editing the article as you have conflict of interest. Some additional information on COI has been left on your talk page.--RadioFan (talk) 23:47, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

List of Dempo S.C. managers

Mate I dont think you understand why I did this article at all. Also I am very disappointed you merged it then told me. You should tell me that you are proposing to merge and get my opinion. Anyway Dempo SC is releasing a website soon with facts about past managers. That was my plan. Also I want to make all I-League pages look the same with a few exceptions. This managers thing was not an exception. I wanted each I-League page to have a separate page with the managers in it. So if you dont mind I will soon recreate that article as this is part of my project to make the Indian Football pages (national team and domestic league) perfect. If you have any complaints please go on my talk page. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 21:36, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

No I didn't understand why you created this article. That's not at all clear from the article. I opted to merge it rather than just delete the article and I also notified you on your talk page as a courtesy.--RadioFan (talk) 01:12, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
Look at it from other editors point of view. There was an list article on "managers", with a single entry in the list and the parent article which clearly stated that this was the first and only professional manger with dismissive note that there had been other "amateurs" filling the position previously. Does that sound like a list article that will soon be improved with other entries to you? You are of course welcome to revert my changes but you should wait until there is sufficient detail to warrant an article or it's likely to get deleted (not just merged). In the future please wait to create articles until there is sufficient detail available to warrant an article.--RadioFan (talk) 01:12, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
Ok I understand and respect your reasoning. i am sorry for this and will comply to the wikipedia rules about lists. Once again sorry for my actions. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 01:22, 24 December 2011 (UTC)

Postal Address Verification

  • I have now thoroughly revised the article that you suggested for deletion so that it is significantly different from the Address Verification System article, more informational, and has much better documentation. There is a sizeable difference between AVS (Address Verification System) where the credit card company determines that a portion of an address matches what is on file with the bank and Postal Address Verification where you enter an address and get a fully standardized and deliverable address back that you can then use for a mailing. The AVS doesn't return an address, just a code (basically approved or disapproved).

Let me know if you have any further concerns. I appreciate your willingness to educate me on wikipedia etiquette. It can be overwhelming for a newbie.Jwnacnud (talk) 21:00, 27 December 2011 (UTC)

Notability of The Unlimiters

Hello RadioFan, I have tried to address your concerns regarding notability on the article's talk page. Some missing information in the references section has also been added, as you will have noticed.

Thanks, Lambdaphage (talk) 20:25, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from The Unlimiters, which you proposed for deletion, because I think that this article should not be deleted from Wikipedia. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!
