KYMERA German Hard Rock Band

Hello Radio Fan, hope I`m right here....Please do not delete the article KYMERA because the Band had a few releases, sold records and have been very popular here in Europe specially in germany. They had a lot of reviews worldwide (which I can`t impossibly post here because the 80s have been a pre-internet age...) and some members are still popular today (Andi Deris of Helloween, Pink Cream 69, The DiBlasioBros.....) A german version of the article has been published in german Wikipedia, but the fact that some bands with the same name KYMERA are existing makes it necessary to clear which was the rock band KYMERA..... Sorry for any mistakes, I`m still practising, regards valerian13 --Valerian13 (talk) 11:09, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Please read the tag on the article for next steps. Also please read the top of my talk page. I'm not an administrator and I cant delete articles. I have brought the article to the attention of administrators who will make the final determination of whether or not it needs to be deleted. If members are still popular today there must be some coverage of them in newspapers, magazines, etc that will help you improve the article so that it might meet notability guidelines.--RadioFan (talk) 11:12, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

I've turned this into a redirect to Sarai Alamgir. Dougweller (talk) 14:16, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Good find, but this doesn't seem like a likely search term so a speedy deletion based on existence of this other article seems better to me. Thanks for the note.--RadioFan (talk) 14:18, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
We're both wrong, as is the editor who has been working on it. It is as he points out a tehsil and not the city in that tehsil, but he should have added the category (which I would have noticed) and also renamed the article to Sarai Alamgir Tehsil. I've removed the speedy and told the other editor that it needs a complete rename, not just a fix of the spelling. Dougweller (talk) 14:31, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Oklahoma Octopus

Hello RadioFan. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Oklahoma Octopus, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not blatantly vandalism or a hoax. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 20:39, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Looks like the article has been significantly improved since it was tagged. No issue with removing the speedy tag.--RadioFan (talk) 20:41, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

" I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion,"

i think you are a CRETIN !!!

Who are you to interfere with my submissions.

1. explain why you do not think it meets the Criteria . 2. i am going to scrutinise every entry you make , and stick a spanner in the works for you ,and see how you like it .

WHY DOES IT NOT MEET THE CRITERIA ?????????

YOU do not speak for the whole , entire, world .... i am sure in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD , that there are people , to whom , this would be of interest to.

I want a clear explaination , otherwise i am going to complain to WIKI Administrators and get you booted off this thing , for interefering with the Charitable objectives of this site , you NAZI !!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moutray2010 (talkcontribs) 15:37, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Please do complain to whoever you feel is most appropriate. Please also share your thoughts on the article on the discussion linked at the top of the article. Thanks for your note above, it's been a while since I've been called many of these names. However, I'm concerned that you are not completely familiar with the definition of Nazism and encourage you to read the article on the topic. --RadioFan (talk) 15:48, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

undo your RIDICULOUS request: strong contest. yes, I realise it was deleted before, but because it was re-direct to political capital or whatever the page is at. The main impetus for my creation was my search for the term on the Chinese WIKI. Calling this a duplication when it could refer to either Beijing, Tokyo, or Kyoto, is reckless and borders on stupidity. Yes, I am discouraged; don't use the default notice --- 华钢琴49 (TALK) 15:25, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

This would be a good article for the Chinese wikipedia but really isn't appropriate for the English one.--RadioFan (talk) 15:38, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
less ridiculous, but still borders on the 'this is the English WIKI' argument against pages with non-Roman titles. do you know ANY Chinese or Japanese? --- 华钢琴49 (TALK) 16:14, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Actually, policy dictates the use of English in titling where there is an English equivalent. Not only is an English title posssible here (the concept of a political capitol is not limited to Chinese nor is the Chinese word most commonly used in English), it already exists.--RadioFan (talk) 16:27, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

RadioFan, "Prick bastard"

I am seeking a petitino to have Radio Fan , removed , from his editing priviledges. !!!

rather than make any submissions himself , he simply wants to act in a provoactive, passive aggressive manner , wasting the time of genuine , legitimate contributors, interfering with their entries, to the wikipedia project.

he is making arbitrary decisions on behalf of the entire world, as to what He deems to be , or not to be NOtable , or NOteworthy .

i think this is bizarre , and frustrating , adn wish to gather like minded individual to rid wikipedia , of these little pests , who have nothing ot add , except to cause chaos, and disruption . !!!!

get off my back , i have already contested your deletion request, which is a waste of my time .

you have no right to infringe my rights , nor to complain about my response when you have provoked and obstructed me . get real , —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moutray2010 (talkcontribs) 15:46, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Actually , you are a PRICK BASTARD .

I can see from your previous posts that you havea pattern of passive aggressive obstructive behaviour . ie @give peole more than a few seconds before , attempting to delete " ,

WIKIPEDIA woudl be a better place with less people like you on it , interfering with people and wasting their time.

i am going to gather together a petition of all the people you have interefered with on your previous posts, and get YOU DELETED .

its time to grow up now ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moutray2010 (talkcontribs) 15:50, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

You are welcome to your opinion of course but please understand that this is nothing personal. As the information above points out, sometimes articles are quickly tagged with concerns when it is clear that time will not correct whatever problem exists with the article. We need only 1 article on each topic, not multiple articles, especially in multiple languages. Please tone down the aggressive, personal language or you are likely to be blocked.--RadioFan (talk) 15:54, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Craig Meier

Hi,

I wasn't finished with the page you nominated for deletion, was working on it when it happened (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Meier).

I am gathering third party sources right now and fixing cosmetics and information in the text and planning to publish a final version within a few hours.

What exactly was it that you didn't find good? Anything expect of lack of references?

Eng3l (talk) 20:11, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

I am of course aware of that IP addresses are logged. It was however not me doing the other edits, it was the "inexperienced" guy I'm helping to do the wikipage for. Im sorting out the page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_Meier) as much as I can right now.

Eng3l (talk) 20:39, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

As the nomination indicates, I dont think this topic meets guidelines for inclusion finished or not. As the nomination also mentions, several Google searches failed to turn up sufficient references to support inclusion.--RadioFan (talk) 01:20, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

The article qualifies for not being encyclopedic, yet, I don't see any difference between mine and, say, Patagonia's article or ClifBar's. Hi, just a quick note - the UK general election results are coming in, so perhaps you might want to wait a minute before adding a delete tag to new MPs pages, as it appears wikipedians are slightly faster than, say, BBC web editors Average Earthman (talk) 22:05, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

If you really must add the page as a stub, please add {{underconstruction}} to the top and new page patrollers will hold of for a day or two. It would be far better to include references with the first revision of the page, noone will bother you then.--RadioFan (talk) 22:07, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
You should just know that I did what I did in order to put a template for "next British General Election" which redirects to the 2010 page. Please either put my article back up, or start a new "Next"article, as there's a need for one. Ericl (talk) 13:34, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Removed speedy from Noctua_(company)

Hey RadioFan. Just letting you know I've removed the speedy deletion tag you added to Noctua_(company). Article being revised with more references and sources. Please be aware it wont be instantly completed due to time and research. I dont see how this article can be shown to be notable. The references that have been added do not appear to be from reliable sources. If there were an article in Billboard or some other established source, I'd consider closing the AFD but that doesnt' appear to be the case.--RadioFan (talk) 20:35, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Hi. You tagged this as a hoax, but while it has been mucked about by silly kids like this, the article actually has a long history - it goes back over three years. On the other hand, a quick search doesn't find any confirmation, so it may indeed be a hoax; but I am not quite happy enough about that to speedy it. I will do a bit more digging and maybe take it to AfD. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:28, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Astral Planes

It was released as both a digital download and as a physical vinyl single. If you think that isnt enough to make a single notable, then there are literally thousands and thousands of pages for such songs and singles - clearly the "notability" guidelines work better in theory than in practice. Why not spend some time pruning some of those rather than deleting articles without even contextualizing them? -Werideatdusk33 (talk) 20:14, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Other articles really don't factor into the notability of this one. Existence doesn't make this single notable. This article came across my radar because it was recently created. I'd be happy to look at others you like to point me to, should I start with other articles on Smashing Pumpkins singles? If you've got a problem with WP:NSONGS, I'd suggest you comment on it's talk page. --RadioFan (talk) 20:16, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
I see where you're coming from and I understand. I've seen a lot of song articles, by countless other bands, that are definitely less notable. But, the rules are the rules, and it's good that someone is keeping an eye on new articles. Keep up the good work. -Werideatdusk33 (talk) 20:19, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Discovery Gospel Choir

Thanks for your message. I was not sure whether people other than the original author were supposed to use the hangon tag. I am looking for sources but will probably just tag the article unreferenced for now. Peter Chastain (talk) 20:36, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

The Truth (Kris Allen song)

However, the article does meet notability standards. It has major reliable sources in independent media such as Entertainment Weekly and About.com, including of which an interview for the background section which is totally about the single. A critical reception section can also be delved into even further via album reviews. This single has become very notable prior to release due to the controversy over added vocals. Notabilty says MUST be covered by reliable sources, which it is, and no information is speculation so the article doesn't fall under WP:CRYSTAL. Also per notablility the "significant coverage" is not just trivial, and no "presumptions." Candyo32 (talk) 21:07, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Good info, you are correct that this does meet WP:NSONGS based on direct coverage of the song itself.--RadioFan (talk) 22:11, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

STS 132 mission poster

Hi RadiFan, adding posters of space shuttle missions are not going to improve the quality of Wikipedia articles as this is not a fan site. I am not clear on what useful information a poster will add to the STS-132 page. I think if you are interested in improving Wikipedia pages, you may wish to add informed text or mission parameters. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:WNSI logo.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:WNSI logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 13:08, 19 May 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:08, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Space wakeup music

Dear RadioFan:

Thank you for your comments. The reference cited, however, says (quoting): "Use of music to awaken astronauts on space missions dates back at least to the Apollo Program, when astronauts returning from the Moon were serenaded by their colleagues in mission control with lyrics from popular songs that seemed appropriate to the occasion. The Apollo 15 crew...was awakened one morning with a segment of “The City of New Orleans” beginning with the lyrics, “Good morning America, how are you?”"

Although the reference does cite music that was sent to Gemini astronauts, it does not state that it was used to awaken them; therefore I don't see how this reference could be used to support the contention that wake-up music is a tradition dating back to Gemini. I think it would be fine to say that "playing music to astronauts dates back to Gemini," but I'm not sure that wouild be pertinent in a section that lists music to wake them up. Sincerely, RadioBroadcast (talk) 19:12, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

The reference dates back to Gemini so I think we should stick with that. The key here is that music, of particular meaning, was played and continues to be played and has been well documented by NASA. Whether the music was played for wake up or while the crew was already awake is over analyzing it a bit dont you think?--RadioFan (talk) 21:12, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Thank you again for your comments. Although I appreciate your viewpoint, I would suggest that rather than an over-analysis, it is rather an issue of verifiability, a core Wikipedia principle which is "whether readers can check that material added to Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether editors think it is true."
The question here is whether the statement in the article is has been published by the cited source. The statement is, "A tradition for NASA human spaceflights since the days of Gemini, mission crews are played a special musical track at the start of each day in space." But the reference does not say the music was played "at the start of each day in space" during Gemini. In fact, according to the reference, that did not really even become "a tradition" until Apollo 17. So to say that playing music at the start of each day is a "tradition since the days of Gemini" is not a conclusion that can be reached based upon the source.
As I hope our common goal in editing Wikipedia is to be as factually accurate as possible, I am not sure why you would advocate retaining information that not only is not contained in the cited reference, but is clearly contrary to it. Thank you, and I look forward to your response. Sincerely, RadioBroadcast (talk) 03:51, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
P.S. I am pleased to note we are both members of the Human Spaceflight WikiProject and have a common interest in radio.
This topic is larger than you and I and should likely be taken to Wikipedia:WikiProject Human spaceflight for discussion. Would you mind starting a thread on that discussion page?--RadioFan (talk) 11:28, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
RadioFan, Yes, that would be fine; I have just started such a thread. Thank you, RadioBroadcast (talk) 16:30, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
