Football infoboxes[edit]

Hi, Linvoy4england. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Only goals and appearances made in league matches should be included in article infoboxes—this is why some football articles have separate sections covering overall career statistics. This is not a big deal, and nobody expects you to know everything straight away. Keep up the good work. Let me know if you have any questions. Best wishes, Rje (talk) 15:16, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Sam Magri has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. —KuyaBriBriTalk 23:04, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sam Magri, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Sir Sputnik (talk) 01:05, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand why the Sam Magri page was deleted when he his in the Portsmouth FC first team squad (in the second tier of English football!!) and he plays regularly for the England youth teams, when the page was made before he may have not been particularly relevent however now he is part of the first team squad and soon to make his first team debut I feel there will be interest in a page on him. If the page can not be reinstated can I at least have a copy of the page so when he makes his debut (in a few weeks) I can have a copy of the page to put up again. Thanks

The article was originally deleted because it lacks any citations to reliable sources. I have restored the article in your userspace at User:Linvoy4england/Sam Magri so that you may resolve this issue without being disrupted. --Chris (talk) 16:49, 8 February 2012 (UTC)thanks very much I will try and improve on the article.[reply]

Footballer infobox stats[edit]

Hello, and thank you for keeping the Portsmouth player stats up to date. When you update the stats, please would you also update the as-of date properly, to a date/time after the last match included in the stats. The easy way is to replace the contents of the parameter with 5 tilde characters, ~~~~~, which the system will automatically convert into the current date and time.

If you just change the date part of the parameter to the date of the last match, and leave the time part unchanged, you end up with people's stats saying things like correct as of 12.05 on the date of their last match, i.e. three hours before it even kicked off, which is obviously wrong.

But if you want to keep on updating it just by changing the date, please change it to the day after the match, so that it doesn't matter what the time part says. Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 18:15, 2 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Footballer infobox stats[edit]

Please remember to set the |club-update= parameter to a date/time after the last match included in the stats, not one several hours before that match kicked off. Thank you, Struway2 (talk) 10:20, 22 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Humour me...[edit]

|club-update = ~~~~~

See above, the bit that starts with a club-update parameter and ends with 5 curly things.

Try copy-pasting that line to where it looks like it might belong in Omar Bogle's infobox.

So that in the edit window, it looks just like you see it on your talk page, with just the 5 curly things after the equals sign, no <nowiki>s or anything peculiar. Preview your edit, and the sentence at the bottom of the infobox should read "Senior club appearances and goals counted for the domestic league only and correct as of" the current UTC date and time.

Add an edit summary that says something like infobox timestamp after last match played, and save the page.

What that should give you when you look at the saved page is the current date and time, which is after his last match and not several hours before it kicked off.

If it doesn't, then I'll give up and just follow you round every matchday fixing them. But it really would help the encyclopedia and its readers if you'd do it yourself. Your industry is really appreciated, but your determination to do it wrong really isn't.

Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 07:51, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
