Hi ZackaryCW,

Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm sorry your initial contribution has had a rocky reception. Since it is both well-written and correct, I thought it might be helpful to leave a note explaining a bit about why it was reverted. I see you've now posted it to your userpage, and that it is explicitly directed to your students; I'm not surprised to hear that, because it is exactly the kind of thing I would show to my own students to introduce them to an interesting idea like this, with excellent step-by-step instructions to walk them through some new ideas. Unfortunately, there's a broad consensus on Wikipedia against that kind of writing: indeed, there's a Wikipedia policy What Wikipedia Is Not that lays this out in detail; see the subsection Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook, textbook, or scientific journal. This isn't to say it's not valuable -- just that this isn't the right venue for it. (And the policy includes suggestions of sister projects that accept material like this.)

I hope this experience wasn't too unpleasant for you, and that you'll consider continuing to contribute to Wikipedia! Don't hesitate to leave me a message if you have any questions.

All the best, JBL (talk) 02:50, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
