Elder Scrolls (IV) skills[edit]

Hello, I see you've added quite a lot on skills as in Oblivion and such. How about putting all the info in one article (preferably expanded with how skills were used in previous titles), IMHO the current way in some way seems to clutter a bit. Also I'd say that skill images (ex.) are not that needed in an Wikipedia article. Just my thoughts.

Generally, when the TES wikiproject gets going perhaps one task would be to take all these small stubby articles about TES and combine them under a uniform layout (or atleast streamlined). Greets, Scoo 19:50, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My thoughts were that if the articles were indeed expanded with in-depth information on how the skills were used/changed since previous titles that a single page for all of them would be too long. As for the images, I just thought they added a nice polish to the pages. I value your opinions & advice, and welcome any further comments. JovBlackheart 19:54, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You shouldn't make individual pages for these skills. There are not notable and just cluttering up Wikipedia. If you really have to, make them a section of the ESIV page or make one page with all of them. Some guy 20:23, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dangit, if this is the reaction I get within an hour of beginning to add them, then I suppose I shouldn't bother finishing what I started. I just thought it would be helpful for visitors to the Oblivion page to be able to find detailed information on each of the skills, directly on Wikipedia. Okay, I'll see about putting all this information on one page as soon as I can. JovBlackheart 20:30, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note, you're supposed to reply on the other user's talk page, not on your own talk page (that way they get a "new messages" indicator). I wouldn't normally come back here to see if you'd replied but I suspected you didn't know that. Some guy 20:36, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I was meaning to be straightforward more than rude but I know I tend to be a little rude-sounding. I know you mean well, and I'm not trying to suppress your contributions, which are certainly welcome, I just want to make sure they follow the guidelines and go in the right places. Sorry again, and happy wiki-ing! Some guy 20:49, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The new page you made looks good. Clean and well formatted, and all in one place. Nice work. Some guy 22:39, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, very good job on the article, I agree. However, would you mind adding all the images in it to the Category:The Elder Scrolls images (since from what I gather, you are the one who uploaded them all)? I mean, it was created to contain such images in the first place. --Koveras 18:25, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:HarryKnowles.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HarryKnowles.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:08, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Image:HarryKnowles.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:HarryKnowles.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - crz crztalk 18:05, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Imperial.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Imperial.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 15:48, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Imperial.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Imperial.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:43, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Alhaji Aliko Dangote.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Alhaji Aliko Dangote.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 20:45, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent, thanks. I'll check for it now. J Milburn (talk) 18:31, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I have replied to your ticket. I'm afraid the permission you provided was not enough- more information in my email. J Milburn (talk) 18:44, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The image will not be deleted until Saturday at the earliest- as soon as you have permission, resend the email and replace my deletion notice with {{OTRS pending}}. If you receive the email after the image has been deleted, contact me on my talk page and I will restore the image straight away. J Milburn (talk) 21:47, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please update your status with WP:VG[edit]

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Fair use rationale for File:Chirpy.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Chirpy.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
