Jake Lloyd[edit]

I have reverted your changes to Jake Lloyd again. IMDb and other sources in the article give his middle name as Christopher. Why are you changing it to Matthew? -Phoenixrod (talk) 03:03, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Jake's middle name being Christopher is a misconception. I have spoken to Jake and him and his mother are going crazy about this. He is not Jacob Christopher. He is just Jake Matthew Lloyd. So I would like it if you could please not undo my edit this time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Horrorfinatic (talkcontribs) 03:07, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm copying your message here so the discussion is in one place. I hope you'll understand that Wikipedia has policies that information must be verifiable in reliable sources. The sources available have the middle name Christopher. We can't take someone's (unpublished) word for it. If what you say is the case, then Jake Lloyd should be sure to make a point of his name in his next interview, and then Wikipedia can provide a citation for changing the name. -Phoenixrod (talk) 03:19, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. I'll let him know...

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did with this edit to Jake Lloyd, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. WookieInHeat (talk) 03:08, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Jake Lloyd. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. WookieInHeat (talk) 03:12, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

hi, yes i saw that you told another editor about talking to the actor himself and clarified his name. however the threshold for inclusion in wikipedia is verifiability, not truth WP:Verify. if you can find a WP:RS that discusses the misconception about the actors name, that can be included in the article. but as it stands, all other sources refer to him as christopher, not matthew. cheers WookieInHeat (talk) 03:23, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info. Horrorfinatic (talk) 03:31, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Again?![edit]

I thought you understood from all the above discussion that you need to have a reliable source that can be verified to change Jake Lloyd's name. The answer is certainly not to wait a few days and change it again without sources, as you did here. I'm afraid that if you do it again, it will have to be treated as vandalism. Since all the published sources available use the name Jacob Christopher Lloyd, that's what we have to use. -Phoenixrod (talk) 04:53, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
