Terrible Towel

Thank you for your response. I'd like to point out that I was not presenting thoughts or editorializing, but presenting facts. The facts I have added to the Terrible Towel page is that the Baltimore Ravens disrespected the Terrible Towel and then won the Super Bowl, which are unquestionable facts that I presented. I'm not sure if you're the admin that dealt with this issue, the Terrible Towel entry has been removed from the Requests for Page Protection section so I'll provide them here:

Fact a.) The Baltimore Ravens defeated the rival Pittsburgh Steelers on November 18, 2012. Ray Rice, Running Back for the Baltimore Ravens disrespectfully walked off the field with his teammates singing/humming "Renegade" by Styx (de facto rally song of the Steelers), waving a Terrible Towel (longtime symbol of the Steelers) and wearing it on his head.

Those facts were being consistently removed from the Terrible Towel page, which is not acknowledging truth. The user that filed the dispute has deleted these facts every time I've added them and took steps to get the article protected from editing. The page currently reads:

"After a 13-10 Ravens win in Pittsburgh on November 18, 2012 Ray Rice walked off the field wearing a Terrible Towel on his head. Rice later apologized. Two weeks later on December 2, the Ravens lost to the Steelers 23-20 despite being at home and facing Pittsburgh's third-string quarterback, Charlie Batch.[50] The Ravens 2012 season, however, was far from over as they won the AFC North and followed that up with a playoff run to become Super Bowl XLVII champions. In doing so, the Ravens became the first team in NFL history to disrespect the Terrible Towel and then win the Super Bowl."

Which as it stands is the truth, and the way the paragraph should read. I anticipate the last two sentences to be erased again, in an attempt to not acknowledge the facts.

I thank you for your time, and for Wikipedia's efforts in the preservation of facts and truth.

I'm not arguing with you over the results of Super Bowl XLVII. (I was actually rooting for the Ravens, as I didn't want the 49ers to tie the Steelers for most Super Bowl wins.) With that said, your sources still didn't mention that a "curse" ended, nor is there anything reliable on the internet that says otherwise. As I told HJ Mitchell, I'm moving on to other projects right now and leaving it alone for the time being, because I'm not up for an edit war and have other things to worry about. Until I find something from a notable publication that outlines that specifically, you're correct.

In my opinion, pretty basic logic would recognize in the chain of events that:

a.) Misfortune historically befell any team that disrespected the Terrible Towel. b.) The Ravens disrespected the Terrible Towel in 2012 and won Super Bowl XLVII.

By definition, that curse ended at the conclusion of the Super Bowl. But, this has yet to be written about by any significant publication/writer, and therefore can not be properly sourced until then. And as you've noticed, the paragraph in its current incarnation only contains the facts that can be indisputably proven. I will keep my contribution to the article as is and refrain from mentioning the concept of the curse ending until that can be properly sourced, as it could be considered editorializing.
