Crunchyroll is not a licensee[edit]

While Crunchyroll may stream anime on behalf of Japanese studios and in cooperation with Funimation and Viz Media, Cruchyroll is not the true licensee of these anime series. Please do not add them to the infoboxes of anime articles. —Farix (t | c) 00:30, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what your source is saying otherwise - Crunchyroll has been licensing all-rights for select titles for several years now. Anime fans seem to speculate wildly about the business side of the anime industry, but I'm trying to update dozens of erroneous series based on assumption. This is Wikipedia. Please refer to this document for more information. Anime News Network also has several other titles that have been reported to them as having Crunchyroll as the master licensee, I will also be updating those as well. Please do not continue to undo my edits. Thank you so much.

Your edit have now gone beyond being disruptive. Crunchyroll is only a streaming service. The series are licenses are held by other companies. Just because Crunchyroll streams an anime series does not mean that they are the primary licensee. Also, licenses are based on regional markets, such as Northern America, not to single countries. —Farix (t | c) 01:06, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Please refer to the source I provided for you. Crunchyroll is the master licensee for dozens and dozens of series, and sublicenses to other companies in some situations. For other titles, there's a different master licensee, and Crunchyroll licenses from them. But for the series that I'm updating, Crunchyroll is the master licensee, and I've provided the source for me saying that. Licenses are based on whatever licenses are based on, there's no rules for how they all act. Please provide sources for the claims you're making.
Hbartlett1, I agree with you that Crunchyroll is licensing titles for home media release, and think Farix is mistaken. However, please join the conversation about this topic over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga#Ongoing edit wars over licensees on multiple articles. Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Hbartlett1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. MrOllie (talk) 23:46, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
