Fiddler

Hello. Another editor much expanded the already too long plot summary at Fiddler on the Roof. I have reverted. If you think the other editor did anything useful, please leave a note at the Fiddler talk page, and we can discuss what ought to be added, if anything, but we need to try to make the plot summaries in these musicals articles as efficient as we can; readers of the encyclopedia need a short summary that they can get through easily. Classic Book

Not a problem, you helped because your post pointed out a weakness in the layout. So I tweaked the quotes section, made the font larger, etc. "Did You Know" (like on the Main Page lol) that the Twain quote often gets misattributed to Will Rogers? I think the nominator picked the Alan Bennett quote because I caught a mistake in the quote's wording as most people know it, which is “Definition of a classic: a book everyone is assumed to have read and often thinks they have.”. The correct full-sentence quote is "Definition of a classic: a book everyone is assumed to have read and often thinks they have read themselves." Shearonink (talk) 17:14, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

I just noticed that you left a message on the page re "experimenting". I don't think this new editor is experimenting. I think it's a young person editting. The same editor made similarly simple edits to Sistine Chapel ceiling. I would rather encourage than shoo away, if possible. He will almost certainly show up on the Leonardo da Vinci pages! C.S. Lewis

Hi, I made the original alteration as a reflection that although LW&W was written first, Lewis wrote the Magician's Nephew as a prequel and intended it to be the first book read in the series.

From the page you linked:

In the 2005 Harper Collins adult editions of the books, the publisher cites this letter to assert Lewis' preference for the numbering they adopted by including this notice on the copyright page: Although The Magician's Nephew was written several years after C. S. Lewis first began The Chronicles of Narnia, he wanted it to be read as the first book in the series. Harper Collins is happy to present these books in the order which Professor Lewis preferred.

I wasn't aware I had reverted anyone - I hadn't checked the history. I'm still not sure the book should be mentioned in the references when it's not used as a reference. I arrived there on a tangent from a question in reference desk and noticed a lovely described book in wikipedia. I also noticed there are hallmark and silver hallmark pages. I linked them in see also sections, but should silver be merged to hallmarks generic? Rollback granted! While I'm sure you'll be okay, be advised that rollback should be used to revert obvious vandalism/spam and that using it for anything else can lead the right being removed; unfortunately, some admins don't even bother warning a user who is misusing the tool and opt to remove it outright. If you'd like to test the tool in a safe environment before using it against vandals, Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback is the place to go.
