Leave it alone, Jerk79

uh Jeff79. You DO NOT OWN wikipedia. Stop trying to start a fight. B. Fairbairn (talk) 18:22, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Trying to start a fight? Why, if I was doing that I think I'd probably go to someone's talk page and call them a jerk. (Wake up to yourself, clown)--Jeff79 (talk) 18:25, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
Get Lost

QLD Caps

Hey, since you're a Brisbane fan i was wondering if you would know any site that you could find the Maroons cap numbers. I couldn't find it on the QRL site. I wanna try and make a QLD version of the List of New South Wales Blues players. I got the NSW caps of their site. Josh the newcastle fan (talk) 06:07, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Oh. That's gay. The link I put here used to work and it had them all listed. Not sure where to find them now.--Jeff79 (talk) 06:47, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Just a note to say that your recent link additions to the article are mostly to disambiguation pages, or the wrong individual. Care to re-visit this ?

Derek R Bullamore (talk) 18:13, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Done. Cheers.--Jeff79 (talk) 18:18, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

A better way ?

Hey Jeff can you remind me how do I create a link to a template to refer to on a talk page. Currently I only know how to refer (for instance) to "the State of Origin Template as appears at the bottom of this page" -Sticks66 02:12, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey Sticks. One way might be to paste the whole URL from the address bar like this. Also typing {Template:State of Origin} works. There might be another better way, but I haven't figured it out yet.--Jeff79 (talk) 12:13, 20 May 2010 (UTC)

Brisbane's 1998 Premiers Navbox

Hey Jeff79,

I just swapped around different jersey numbers using RLP

mgt98

Jerseys on season results

Hey Jeff79,

Should we have the jerseys that each club had on or just for heritage round??

mgt98

I'm quite indifferent when it comes to putting club colours or jerseys on that list. While I do like the jerseys, I fear for what they might do to page loading speed. Also, if you wish to put club numbers beside players' names for match lineup tables, I think it's better to simply put them alongside the names like this rather than anywhere else.--Jeff79 (talk) 07:50, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

So should I put the jerseys on?!?!

mgt98

I don't think so.--Jeff79 (talk) 11:10, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

thanks

Thanks for the article, Jeff. Nice and detailed. LunarLander // talk // 19:14, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:26, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi. I saw your addition to this article. Want to work together on it? I've put in a heap of effort. I'm not happy with the references, though. There are too many in places. I also think we should include a screenshot or two. - Richard Cavell (talk) 01:11, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Sure. You've done a good job on it so far. Not sure why the references are stacked up like that though. What else do you think needs adding? A list of guests? Could get a bit long. I'm overseas so I've never seen the show and I'm pretty much limited to searching the "The Matty Johns Show" at news.google.com.--Jeff79 (talk) 04:57, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
I've gone into overkill on the references. I want to rationalise them at some stage. I also am at a disadvantage, because I'm in Victoria, where the show is not given priority. But episodes are available online for 1 week after broadcast at Yahoo!7. - Richard Cavell (talk) 05:08, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Reverting against talk page consensus at Talk:Sydney Roosters, on pages including:

-- Cirt (talk) 02:42, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

I'm not surprised Yellowmonkey would want me blocked. It's obvious his agenda is personal and he's against the improvement of rugby league-related articles. I am however, quite shocked he got someone to agree with him. I'm guessing Cirt was a bit rushed on this one. I never altered the Sydney Roosters article (y'know, the one that the supposed 'consensus' was directly related to?). Take the time to look at the Rabbitohs edit and you'll see that additional wording was added to the reinstated material in line with suggestions in the Roosters discussion. And I find it fascinating that my edit to the History of the Sydney Roosters article was not worth reverting, but was worth using as evidence for a block! I understand that looking purely at the numbers on the Roosters discussion shows consensus for removal, but for some reason three of the votes under 'remove' include a statement for the inclusion of a mention of notable fans. This makes me think most of the voters aren't exactly sure what they're voting for the removal of. So establishing consensus is quite unclear, which I pointed out on the talk page, but never mind responding... just block me. I'm the one who brought this from a childish revert war to a discussion page. It's an embarrassment for the pair of you.--Jeff79 (talk) 14:50, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:

Firstly, supposed talk page consensus that I'm accused of going against is not clearly established. Secondly, my edits were not to the article being discussed, but to other articles entirely. Since it isn't clear that the discussion has established consensus for the article it's attached to, why would anyone think it extends to any others? I didn't edit the Roosters article because of course that would be inflammatory. I refer you to the Roosters talk page where you can see the ambiguity. I'm looking forward to a clear resolution being reached and until it has I will, as a sign of good faith, refrain from any editing "Supporters" sections of any football team articles.

Decline reason:

Solid block. When in doubt, don't revert another editor's edits. You should learn to work with others much more constructively rather than continuing your pattern of disruption. Toddst1 (talk) 19:58, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

No, Todd. What you mean to say is, "when in doubt, request a block for the other editor before he/she does for you." In the years I've been here I've never even been close to attracting a warning, let a lone a block for any reason. The last thing I need to be told is to edit more constructively. My only mistake was seeing bland and uninteresting sections entitled "Supporters" in some football teams' articles, adding to them mention of notable fans (fully referenced by reliable third-party publications) and refusing to accept their undiscussed and repeated deletion by a prejudiced and extremely petty administrator[4][5][6][7]. But, being an administrator, his/her behaviour is obviously not scrutinized to the extent that mine is. Oh well. Live and learn, right?--Jeff79 (talk) 12:02, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Knowsley Road photographs

The first play-off game at Knowsley Road could be the last game to be played there. It's looking likely that not that many more games will be played at Knowsley Road, Belle Vue, The Willows or Wheldon Road and we have very few free-to-use images of them (although the ones we have, particularly of Wheldon Road are very good). I wouldn't like to see our material on these historic grounds go the same way as the very limited material we have for the historic Boulevard Ground, Thrum Hall or the Parkside Ground. If you will be at the next play-off game at Knowsely Road or if you are able to get any pictures of these grounds I would be very gratefull if you could upload them to commons. I can sort out the categories and such if you don't have any time. Alternatively if you know of anyone who could it would be much appreciated. I am unlikely to go to any away games next season because of my current circumstances so will not be able to contribute towards this, although I shall endevour to get some great images at home games (I've a load of the CC final to upload but there sat it a very long backlog).

Nicknames

I can appreciate where you are coming from with regards to nicknames, but surely removing cited material is a delicate area at wikipedia. Watching alot of European Super League and the National Rugby League I have found that nicknames are prevalent throughout the game, much more so than any other sport. I understand your position on the matter, and I would not seek to reprimand another editor for the removal of cited sources, but surely nicknames that are not cited should be the ones that should be debated. The Infoboxer (talk) 09:59, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

I suggest we keep discussion centralised at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Rugby_league#Nicknames.--Jeff79 (talk) 10:13, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
You are a very odd person. That being said, I would say that someone agreeing with your viewpoint on a subject where there are only three voices would represent a consensus, but only in the strictest sense. I hardly feel that it would be grounds for inviting someone to leave when they don't agree with your opinion. I have not reported anyone for removing cited sources, but were there to be more voices added to the discussion then I would certainly adhere to the decision reached through consensus. The Infoboxer (talk) 19:59, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

MICHAEL HANCOCK

Hi Jeff, I'm a very inexperienced wiki user, and have tried to update the wiki for Michael Hancock, and recently made a change to show he was born Brisbane, rather than Stanthorpe and I see you have changed this back. Michael was in fact born in Brisbane and asked me to change it for him. I also tried to add an image for him but got really confused with doing this. How do I go back in and add the photo? In fact, I'm not even sure this is the right way to contact/ask you!! Cheers, Jim bar (talk) 04:23, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Be really careful here - you've already broken 3RR. Even though consensus is clearly in your favour, reverting anything other than vandalism/copyvios/BLP violations more than three times in 24 hours is a bright line blockable offence. The only reason I'm not blocking is that (a) you haven't been fully warned and thus might be under a good faith misapprehension that you haven't broken 3RR; and (b) I've decided to protect the page. --Mkativerata (talk) 06:00, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Ok. It was a good faith misapprehension. I'll try keep that in mind. I also just noticed a similar thing going on at Illawarra Steelers.--Jeff79 (talk) 06:08, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Review of St Helens RLFC

I know recently I posted on the project's talk page about me saying I'd take up reviewing responsibilities, but 1) I'm not sure if I can thoroughly examine a page, certainly not to a B and above grade extent and 2) I would find it strange to review what is, in the main, my own work, in case I give it too great, or too strict a review. I don't know whether you yourself know how to review articles, but if so could you give St Helens the once over, going off what Special Windler and Ginger Warrior suggested? If not, do you think I'd be able to do it myself, even though it's mainly my own work?

Thanks very much,

TV Ratings

Hi Jeff,

I've been trying to create a new page for the 2011 NRL Season to list the season TV ratings. Unfortunately it wont let me do it so I was wondering if you might have more luck. I will have legitimate sources for both Metro, Country, Foxtel & even New Zealand ratings as the season unfolds. Kind of like this (http://talkingfooty.com/tv_ratings_2010.php) but obviously not run by AFL trolls. So what it would need are rows that lists the 8 games per round (like the 2011 NRL Season results page) and then around 12 columns for - Game (Team vs Team), Date, TV Network, Australian National Ratings, Regional Ratings, Metro Ratings, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth & potentilly New Zealand. It would also have to list Charity Shield, WCC, All Stars, City vs Country, Anzac Test, State of Origin, NRL Finals and Four Nations. I can fill the info in as the season progresses, I just need help creating the page & table. (Mattdocbrown (talk) 08:58, 14 January 2011 (UTC))

I suggest not using a capital 's' in 'season'.--Jeff79 (talk) 09:48, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

New project

Hi Jeff, I've begun a little project here and here. I've been working on it bit by bit for a while. I thought I'd share its existence. With WP being here, it might seem a bit repetitive/unnecessary, but I intend for it to have a wider scope, perhaps have its own style and offer some user experience improvements. It's currently a slow burning work in progress. It has the same licensing as Wikipedia so content can be shared between the two, with attribution. Come on over if you're interested in becoming involved, though I'll understand if you feel WP takes enough of your time. LunarLander // talk // 01:53, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Y'know I don't think I really understand what that is. It seems very similar to what we're already doing here. You're dissatisfied with wikipedia?--Jeff79 (talk) 09:26, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
I'll try to be brief! I'm sure you've seen some of the many other wikis online that are dedicated to certain subjects; this is doable. There will certainly be some overlap with what is on WP (at least 7k articles, based on what there is now), but there is a lot more that is notable or worth recording about the game than would be considered appropriate for inclusion on Wikipedia. I think WP and RLW would feed off each other, this would be much more than a copy and paste job. There are RL variants, culture, people, groups, little nuggets of history. Right now, RL video game articles here have been nominated for deletion, however they are clearly notable to the sport. I think building a noticeable, coordinated community with a more user friendly wiki could work. There are very committed people around WP:RL, but this has been hard within a much larger Wikipedia community. LunarLander // talk // 19:21, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
