Possible Folding of EuroLeague Broadcasters into EuroLeague Article[edit]

Hi @Explicit,

As you were the admin who closed the List of EuroLeague broadcasters article, can you yourself please provide me a copy of a draft of the old article, or can you direct me to how best to obtain it? I would like to see if any of it is appropriate to include in the Media Coverage section of the EuroLeague article, which previously pointed people to the now-deleted article for the main discussion of that topic. Thank you. Coining (talk) 13:23, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Coining: Hi, I'm currently traveling, so I'm not able to give this a proper look at the moment. I will be able to provide an adequatue response on Monday. Apologies for the delay. plicit 00:06, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Explicit: Enjoy your travels. Thank you for the update. Coining (talk) 00:48, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Coining: The article looked like this prior to deletion. plicit 13:34, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, @Explicit. I'll look to incorporate only the sourced material into the main page. Coining (talk) 14:27, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yuri Lushchai[edit]

I am afraid I didn't find a rationale for deletion during the closing of nomination. I as author of the article was not pinged on the nomination page by the person who nominated, or anyone else in discussion. Therefore I couldn't provide a rationale for keeping. There are two articles in Radio Liberty about him, and numerius others providing significant coverage. As the result, I ask you to restore the article. BilboBeggins (talk) 13:26, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • UPD. I now checked that there is message on page, but somehow I didn't get a red notification and didn't check the article. The request still holds. BilboBeggins (talk) 13:51, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BilboBeggins: Hi, I looked over the discussion again and, since the page was deleted with a pretty resounding consensus, I cannot unilaterally undelete the page. You are free to work on a draft and submit your work for review. plicit 13:34, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then can you please restore page in a draft? BilboBeggins (talk) 04:43, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BilboBeggins: The page is now available at Draft:Yuri Lushchai. plicit 06:46, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@BilboBeggins @Explicit I have no issue with the draftification, however note that at Wikipedia_talk:Deceased_Wikipedians#Yuri_Lushchai consensus was that he wasn't appropriate to list there either. There is going to be a long road back to mainspace. His death is sad, but that doesn't make him notable per English Wikipedia standards. Star Mississippi 12:51, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Explicit, I wanted to follow up with your deletion closure of 2020 Games. As it was 2 !votes to delete, a !vote to not delete, plus a comment pointing towards the term's widespread usage, I feel that should have been relisted. 1992 Games targets the 1992 Olympics, 2008 Games targets the 2008 Olympics. Furthermore, 2022 video games targets 2022 in video games, and all of which have been longstanding redirects of precedent. If anything, 2020 Games should have targeted either the 2020 Olympics, or 2020 in games, with a hatnote indicating that wherever it redirects (as "2020 games" is a highly used method of referring to either of the two subjects). I don't think the subsequent deletion votes were particularly strong in this situation ("not useful" was countered with evident use in sources, and a per nom); if a title is simple and searchable enough, hatnoting the most relevant titles is usually a preferred method compared to outright deletion, especially if a primary topic is known (which seems to be the case here). Please let me know what you think! Utopes (talk / cont) 18:49, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Utopes: Hi, I have relisted the discussion. plicit 13:34, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 Georgian Cup[edit]

Hi @Explicit,

I'm writing to make sure you don't have anything against creating the 2024 Georgian Cup page from anew. You have deleted the original one because of a banned author. Gorgin18 (talk) 09:19, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Gorgin18: Hi, feel free to create the page. It was deleted in accordance with WP:CSD#G5, which only applies to the sockpuppet's edits and has no bearing on that of others. plicit 13:34, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Potential G5 undeletions[edit]

Hello there, unfortunately as part of the whole Ylogm saga the pages Ming succession dispute, Yang Rong (mandarin), Yang Shiqi and Yang Pu (Ming dynasty) they created while socking all got G5'd. Since the content is unrelated to the reason for their block and were all very good starts for pages, would you consider their undeletion? Thank you very much.

P.S. I don't really expect you to remember, but sorry for my last visit here regarding my application for rollback permissions, I didn't respect your time and patience as much as I should've done. Remsense 02:03, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Remsense: WP:CSD#G5 applies to all pages created by the sockpuppet. They will need to be recreated from scratch. plicit 06:46, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for letting me know! Remsense 07:26, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Re-doing 'Michael Huppe' Deleted Wikipedia Page[edit]

Hello @Explicit! Hope all is well with you.

I am looking to post a new Wikipedia page for 'Michael Huppe' to replace and improve upon content that was previously deleted, and noticed that you were the most recent user to interact with the original page and ultimately remove it. I wanted to reach out to you first before proceeding with creating the new page. [Here is the old page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Michael_Huppe]

I can see that you have been active on Wikipedia for many years and have a broad range of experience. Since you have worked on many things since the page I'm referencing was deleted, I would like to provide a very brief refresher: For your background, Michael Huppe is a music industry executive, author and professor of law, currently serving as CEO of SoundExchange. SoundExchange is a non-profit and is the only organization designated by the U.S. government to collect and distribute digital performance royalties for sound recordings. Michael Huppe, both in his role at SoundExchange as an individual who engages in music rights advocacy, has played an integral role in policy development and has been directly involved with the passage of several important industry pieces of legislation, amongst other personal and professional achievements.

Regarding the new page I would like to create for Michael Huppe, it is important to note that the new proposed copy is different from what previously existed on the page and includes a significant number of new sources and added context that affirm the individual's notability.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts, questions or suggestions regarding the creation of a new 'Michael Huppe' page. Your expertise here is incredibly valuable and any guidance would be much appreciated.

Thank you for considering. Hannrose (talk) 17:03, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

RfD relist request[edit]

Hi Explicit :) In the light of arguments made in various sections of Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2024 April 24 (e.g. #The F-Bomb (film), #F-Bomb (documentary)), please could you consider undeleting and relisting the RfD for The F-Bomb (documentary), which didn't receive comments from editors other than the nominator?
