Aggie Userbox[edit]

Someone came and removed the Image claiming it violated fair use. So I've substitued a self made image so that people shouldn't be able to complain. Would you mind resizing it again and all that? Thanks --Pboyd04 16:34, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Texas A&M University to-do[edit]

I was concerned about the pictures that the newer user had added and gotted upset about my removal of. I haven't been paying attention to the article, as there are a few other things I'm working on ("Deep in the Heart of Texas" and the Vince Young Wonderlic Test nonsense). I think the pictures seem fine.

The boosterism I am worried about are the extensive listings of the rankings of all of the degrees in the Engineering College. I think this is boosterism at best and just makes the school look like it's reaching for something at worst. I mean to say that: The ranking for the college overall should be sufficient unless one of the programs is ranked #1. Posting any others makes it look like you're trying to show how important you are by throwing out all these rankings. A&M doesn't have to do that. The simple CoE ranking should be fine.

Previously, these rankings were formatted as such: "The __ college is ranked 8th in the country". That made me really steamed, because it really was boosterism of the worst sort. If you take a look, the page concerning academic boosterism actually contains a direct (old) quote from the A&M article as an example of "what not to do". These are the problem I was concerned with.

In general, any article where alumni/students are editing will have boosterism issues. That's why you have us t-sips to keep you in check. ;-) — Scm83x ^talk 06:26, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rankings Fix[edit]

Thanks for touching up the rankings language on the A&M article. As a minor quibble, please check for prior vandalism in the recent history before editing as it makes it harder to merge your good edits as well as revert the vandalism. Cheers, --Claygate 12:55, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Texas A&M Olsen Field.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Texas A&M Olsen Field.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Howdy! There are many Aggies roaming around Wikipedia, though few are working on A&M related articles. I mostly spent my Christmas break working on every A&M related article, but with the semester now in full swing I don't really have time to continue. At one point I was thinking creating an A&M group or a portal but I decided it wouldn't really accomplish anything. It would require additional work on my part just to organize the wikigroup. Right now all I can encourage you to do would be to look at the To-Do lists on both the main A&M article, and the Traditions page, and simply complete those items.
