Orphaned non-free image (Image:CIE Group.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CIE Group.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 01:12, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Tallymen :O)[edit]

Just saw your note on the noticeboard regarding the status of TDs. I was taking a quick look around relevant articles as the results play on the telly in the background and I think that there is a lot less real-time reporting going on than I expected. (Which is no bad thing, I think.) Flowerpotman talk|contribs 20:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Mc Dowell[edit]

Just saw your interesting posts on MMcDowell's resignation. I wish to be as helpful as possible. A TD serves as a TD until the dissolution of the Dail or resignation from the Dail. One serves as a minister until one's successor is appointed. Thus as things stand. Mr. Mc Dowell ceased to be a TD on 29th April and barring unforseen cirsumstance will continue as Tanaiste and Minister for Justice until 14th June when a new government will probably be elected by the 30th Dail and appointed by the president -- Rigger30 20:35, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

requesting references - observation[edit]

Perhaps you haven't noticed but all articles are supposed to be referenced and verifiable - when starting a new article it even has this statement "Articles that do not cite reliable published sources are likely to be deleted". Thus explaining the rationale in each case is superfluous - writers should be following the rules. Your final remarks on my not being interested in improving Wikipedia or just in increasing my edit count are offensive and ill-informed. At least try and get some of your facts right or keep your negative jibes to yourself. Ardfern 18:27, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks - your reply is just about what I expected - anything is better than a reasoned response, eh. Ardfern 18:36, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've just realised that for most of those articles I added "unreferenced" to, I also added categorisation (one of the other Wiki essentials), but perhaps you didn't notice that, or just think that adding categorisation is also simply to increase edit counts. Keep up the good work. Ardfern 18:53, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of University College Dublin people has been proposed for deletion. An editor felt this list might not be appropriate for Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:List guideline for relevant guidelines. If you can improve the article to address these concerns, please do so.

If no one objects to the deletion within five days by removing the prod notice, the article may be deleted without further discussion. If you remove the prod notice, the deletion process will stop, but if an editor is still not satisfied that the article meets Wikipedia guidelines, it may be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion for consensus. Spiddal[edit]

No problem DJ, I was just testing something. (Although I would like to see Gaeltacht places under their Irish names and redirect from the English one, but that would require a consensus - what's you opinion about it?) --sony-youthpléigh 23:05, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, consensus would be required, and if neccessary moving the page, see for instance WP:IMOS#Naming articles: English versus Irish. Beyond that I am not particularily bothered but do believe, in accordance with the manual of style, that the common name in English should be used, rather than, for instance, using the "official" name just because its the official one. Djegan 23:16, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, "using the 'official' name just because its the official one" is a bane elsewhere. Lastly, what's your opinion of my proposal on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ireland re: translations - nobody has responded yet, so that's why I'm asking. --sony-youthpléigh 08:10, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
