Disambiguation link notification for September 29[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Selenean summit, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page LRO. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

About the spaceship program[edit]

Thanks for your note on my talk page. We can talk better here on yours. So, you were asking about the page Rising Star Programme by Kruger Cowne - formerly called Spaceship Earth Grants? The deletion rationale (which I did not write) says "Citations are comprised almost entirely of the same press release, an article written by someone from the organization, and Facebook and Twitter posts. This award is not particularly notable, the XCOR Lynx is not going to be flying in 2018 (they stopped development), and the citations are not good."

To explain better: the main problem is that the article didn't meet Wikipedia's requirement for an article to be here at all, called the General notability guideline, and the requirement that information in the article must be sourced to Independent Reliable Sources. This article as written did not meet those requirements. The sources included things like Facebook and Twitter, which are not acceptable; they are neither independent nor reliable. There was one citation from the New Republic, but other than that it was all press releases and blogs and such, which also don't count.

Here's what we can do: if you want to restore the article, and you think you can actually find mainstream press coverage about this program, I can copy it into your private user space. There it will not be part of the encyclopedia, so it will not get deleted, and you can work on developing it into an acceptable article. If you don't know of any mainstream press coverage that you can cite, though, there wouldn't be any point. Can you show me examples of what kind of sources (newspapers and such) you could add? --MelanieN (talk) 21:28, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

--REPLY BACK I

thanks for getting in touch. if you could post it someplace I can find the original that would be great. I will certainly dig around for more mainstream sources, I do have some memory of a couple (tho I don't have all the links on hand -- heres one for example; http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/11/23/hussain-manawer-won-trip-to-space-dedicates-it-mental-health-issues_n_8627014.html) that I've seen about the person who won it, back when it happened, and even a little more recently. I will do my best to make it appropriate to the guidelines before re-posting and would be more than happy to let you review it first too if you could find the time. I totally appreciate your concerns, but I believe both the contest, and its possible failure, are significant enough to generate an article on. I would like to try and keep it alive. Again, if they end up using a different vehicle but still completing the prize offering, it will also surely be published a little more widely too at that time. Many thanks and much respect for all you do. dx.

That Huffington Post article looks like exactly the kind of thing we need. I'll set it up and let you know where to find it. --MelanieN (talk) 22:09, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

REPLY BACK II

Cheers. Once again, many thanks for your attention to this.

You can find the restored article here: User:Dennizenx/Rising Star Programme by Kruger Cowne. I'll be glad to look at it and advise you, after you have improved and updated it and added better sources. We are also going to want to find a better title for it before we move it to the encyclopedia.
A couple of tips for talk pages: You don't have to label your replies as replies, you can just put them underneath the comment you are replying to. You will notice I indent my replies under yours: you do that by adding colons in front. One colon : to indent it one space, two colons :: to indent it two spaces, etc. Also you should sign your comments. You do that by adding four tildes ~~~~ to the end of your note. The system will automatically convert that into your signature and a date stamp. You can type the tildes, or you can use the signature button above the edit window; it looks like a signature. When I type four tildes the system does this: --MelanieN (talk) 22:24, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

truly cannot thank you enough for help with this, and the super-useful tips !! will keep you in the loop. Dennizenx (talk) 22:28, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

hello, I have made some updates and added some of the original, and mainstream citations that may be required for a proper article. I am having some trouble generating the proper citations but I included them in the reference material. They were all retrieved in the past couple days and are all active as of today too. Please let me know if this better conforms to the guidelines, if you think it needs more, and any tips or assistance with the citations would be much appreciated. thanks again Dennizenx (talk) 03:46, 11 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
