While analyzing your situation, I noticed that Hohenloh reverted your edits, but left clues to explain his actions (see the entry's history page). Please check out Wikipedia:Describing points of view and Wikipedia:Manual of Style to understand from where he's coming.

I agree with your approach to explain the reasons why the subject is revered as a national hero because one really doesn't know about him unless the historical context of his life is understood. There are two possible problems that I noticed with your edits. The first is that it read like an original piece. Consult with Wikipedia:No original research about this. This was actually one of the first issues I had to learn myself. The other problem is that most of the material you included might be more suitable for other entries which I'll list here: History of Ireland 1691–1801, Protestant Ascendancy and History of Ireland 1801–1923. Check those out also.

Inserting internal links and references are also essential. Wikipedia:Citing sources can better explain the latter. The goal of this is to present the article as though it was an authoritative book and/or article.

I am a strong believer that the best way for Wikipedia editors to develop is on their own; that's the way I did it for myself. I will not alter any of your additions for this reason. You might want to also consult with Hohenloh about this matter.

I should mention that my contributions to this entry are also open to further editing. The source of the information that I added are listed as external links, but they should be incorporated into the article as references.

I am flattered that you asked for my consultation and I hope that I've been of help to you. Please feel free to contact me if you need any help about Wikipedia-related matters. I just might learn something new myself. It's been a pleasure. The Ink Daddy! (talk) 01:53, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Original Barnstar
Great work on the article, especially the infobox and the images. You did me twice better because I still haven't learned how to add pictures & logos. All Wikipedia entries are always works in progress, but you helped make the editors' lives a lot more easier. A million thanks. The Ink Daddy! (talk) 21:06, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Donnelly and Cooper[edit]

It doesn't matter whether the lyrics are a copyright violation or not; Wikipedia does not include the entire lyric in a song's article regardless of its copyright status. You can quote a short snippet of the lyrics, but songs in the public domain should have their lyrics posted at WikiSource rather than here. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 02:59, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Donnelly's arm[edit]

I see you've been doing a lot of editing on this recently, and wondered whether you might need a hand?

(I wouldn't want to see you out on a limb) ;-)

Can you please provide them when you make changes. You should know better, considering your experience here. Best. RashersTierney (talk) 16:54, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

When summarising your edit, it is the substantive change to the article that should be referred to. Your edit at James Connolly "He lied about his name and his ageage" should be the subject of synopsis. This is a potentially controversial statement, even if true and ref'd. Editors might believe you were trying to hide your changes under a 'false flag'. Please be more careful. RashersTierney (talk) 11:50, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
