June 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Meters. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on Booker T (wrestler), but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. We cite a source that gives that name. We don't make changes based on users saying "but I know better". If you have sources then let's see them. Meters (talk) 02:59, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I work with Booker. I’m his manager. Do you have a secure way I can provide you these documents? Chr1717 (talk) 06:17, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Booker T (wrestler), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Meters (talk) 17:58, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If there are errors in the article and the existing source then you need to add the new sources to the article, not just remove the existing source.
Since you claim to be his manager you have a conflict of interest in editing his article. Please read and follow WP:COI. If the new sources cannot be added to the article then you may contact OTRS at info-en@wikimedia.org to prove your identity and provide the documents. I will remove the challenged info for now pending resolution of this. Meters (talk) 18:09, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
After a second look, I will leave it as is for now. Meters (talk) 18:12, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Meters: Chr1717 did email VRT (formerly OTRS) and I'm handling the ticket, but there's not much for me to do from that end; this needs to be resolved on-wiki. Any correspondence sent to VRT is private and can't be used as source material because it can't be independently verified. In fact, we specifically ask that users not email private documents to us since there's nothing we can do with them. I see that Chr1717 provided a Google Books link to the autobiography in their edit summary on this edit; I think sorting out the disagreement between that and the existing source is where this needs to go. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 22:31, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@ElHef: OK. Has he proved his identity as the subject's manager? Meters (talk) 03:16, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Meters: I haven't seen any reason to doubt that claim, but it hasn't been verified and it would probably be extremely difficult to get to the point where it could be. I think the best course here is to treat this like any other article where there are two sources saying contradictory things and hash it out accordingly. Chr1717, that means that the best thing for you to do is keep talking about it here (or on the article's talk page). Continuing to change the text of the article is only going to make this harder, unfortunately. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 03:58, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I just opened a section on the article talk page about this, probably better to continue discussion about the article content there; see Talk:Booker T (wrestler) § Actual name. ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 04:13, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Meters! Thanks for the info. Sorry for any confusion on my part. I’m new to this and we are just trying to get it fixed so people stop providing incorrect contracts. I’ll email that team now. Is there an email address I can copy you on as well so you have visibility? Chr1717 (talk) 18:53, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I also noticed you said you’d leave it as is for now, but I see that it is back to Robert Tio again. Please advise. Chr1717 (talk) 18:55, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I left it to the original state (i.e., "as is") per the cited source. Meters (talk) 03:14, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Booker T (wrestler), you may be blocked from editing. Again, proving a source in your summary is not sufficient. It needs to go in the article. And since we have a conflicting source this needs to be discussed on the article's talk page. You have been pointed to WP:BRD and WP:COI and WP:EW. Please do not make this edit again. Meters (talk) 03:12, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Meters “my disruptive editing” is correct. Please go look at the wrestling data website which is the source you have been siting. His name is now correctly listed there. Chr1717 (talk) 16:06, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Meters, this is ridiculous. We provided you a source to BOOKER’s autobiography that shows HIM saying his name is BOOKER T HUFFMAN. We had your original source updated. Now you want to pull old articles that sourced the information incorrectly from your original source? Just stop. I’m already now in contact with Booker’s legal team over this. Is this really worth going down a legal hole over? Chr1717 (talk) 16:39, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon Your recent edits could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that making such threats on Wikipedia is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a dispute with the content of any page on Wikipedia, please follow the proper channels for dispute resolution. Please be sure to comment on content, not contributors, and where possible make specific suggestions for changes supported by reliable independent sources and focusing especially on verifiable errors of fact. Disclosure of paid editing[edit]

Hello Chr1717. You have disclosed that you are the manager of Booker T (which is a good thing, so thank you), so please review Wikipedia's policy on the mandatory disclosure of paid editing. Basically, if you edit any article on behalf of a client, you need to clearly and visibly disclose that they are paying you to do so. The recommended method to do so is to use one of the variations of the {{paid}} template on your userpage (User:Chr1717), and also the {{connected contributor (paid)}} template on the talk page of every article in question. Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 01:52, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is also recommended that, because of your connections to the subject, you should not edit Booker T (wrestler) directly. Instead, leave messages on the article's talk page requesting the edits to be made by neutral editors. The {{Request edit}} template can be used to call attention to your requests. —C.Fred (talk) 16:50, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Your user page disclosure of your conflict of interest "Manager & consultant. Divulging this information so I can make certain edits for clients." is not sufficient. You need to follow WP:PAID. Meters (talk) 04:54, 21 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you need to follow WP:PAID and disclose your connection properly. Your generic user page disclosure of your conflict of interest "Manager & consultant. Divulging this information so I can make certain edits for clients." is not sufficient. See WP:COIPAYDISCLOSE. Meters (talk) 18:20, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Meters. Thanks for this info. I’m trying to figure it out to do it correctly. If I am able to set that up correctly, would that be sufficient to allow me to make the edit? Chr1717 (talk) 02:36, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Read the links No, disclosing your paid conflict of interest does not mean that you can restore contested edits. Meters (talk) 18:53, 25 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
