Editing talk pages[edit]

Hi, this is user:martin of Sheffield. When editing talk pages please indent successive threads with colons, I've done this for you at Template_talk:Infobox_church, it makes it easier for editors to read a thread. When you add text to talk pages (not main space), please be sure to sign the entry with four tildes: ~~~~. Thanks, Martin of Sheffield (talk) 09:01, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 14:29, 17 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Bpc.sg. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Bethel Presbyterian Church, Singapore, you may have a conflict of interest. People with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, see the conflict of interest guideline and frequently asked questions for organizations. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, its competitors, or projects and products you or they are involved with;
  • instead, propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

Hello, 1Wiki8........................... I am in no way associated to the said church. Hence, I do not believe there is any conflict of interest. However, I do have domain knowledge on the subject matter in the discussion and have offered my expert opinion. Thank you. Bpc.sg (talk) 14:55, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of The Burning Bush[edit]

The article The Burning Bush has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable journal. Not indexed in any selective databases, no independent sources. Does not meet WP:NJournals or WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Randykitty (talk) 04:22, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Timothy Tow. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Please stop continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Far Eastern Bible College, without resolving the problem that the template refers to. Maybe you need to slow down a bit[edit]

I like the seminary templates that you're creating, but I think you need to make sure you're not rushing things. In Template:Dallas Theological Seminary, for example, you have lots of deceased people listed under "present" faculty! You really need to be checking each entry! Also, once you have created the template, please place it on the articles of all the people named on it, before you do another template. Otherwise it is simply leaving lots of work for someone else to do. But thanks for your work - I'm glad you're here! I had no idea when I created the Timothy Tow, VPP, and FEBC articles (it took me a few days of intense research into Singapore Bible-Presbyterianism!) that I would be drawing another editor (back) to the project! StAnselm (talk) 19:47, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anselm! Thanks I like the seminary templates too. It provides clarity for me and the context is helpful and time-saving. Your advice on the template is duly noted. It's great to have a veteran Christian wiki editor like you around so I'm glad you're here too. Just curious, what prompted you to intense research and create those articles? Any interesting observations or learnings? Would love to hear your thoughts. Bpc.sg (talk) 05:01, 2 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please remember to indent talk[edit]

See wp:talk page guidelines#Layout which follows conversation threading. It goes something like this:
A says something

B replies to A
C replies to B
C starts a new paragraph for reply to B
D replies to C
E replies to A
F replies to B

G starts a new thread
With lots of sub-threads, it can get rather complicated, but this helps sort out conversation. Click edit to see the code. I like this. Thanks for creating the template and its transclusion. I suspect the lawsuits section might get huge...
Per wp:article names, should it be "Creation science"?
I notice a couple of redlinks. Templates probably shouldn't have redlinks. Are they misspelled or miss-capitalized?
I changed the template state to autocollapse. If multiple navboxes are together, it can get huge. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 17:24, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Article creation[edit]

I would recommend creating them in a sandbox. User:Bpc.sg/Calvary Pandan Bible-Presbyterian Church. You can just click on the link and start editing. This reduces wp:speedy deletions and other editing. When ready, try to get a respected editor to review the article, then wp:move (not copy/paste) it to the wp:article space. Add categories, but prefix them with a colon It helps to add a link on your wp:user page to the sandbox. Best Jim1138 (talk) 17:24, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bpc. I noticed that you changed the documentation for the template to include two new parameters: assocpastor and asstpastor but have not yet changed the template. The documentation needs to accurately reflect the template, not be a "wish list". Please either update the template to match the doc, or revert the doc to match the template. If you need help updating the template ask for it on the template's talk page. Given the last thread on this subject I would suggest starting a new outer level paragraph and asking for comments before the end of the week (say 17/10/15). Also, please ping JackLee, Djkeddie and Hunter to ensure they see your proposal. If you need help on pinging or anything else, just ask here, I'll be watching your talk page for a while. Regards, Martin of Sheffield (talk) 20:50, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks (talk) for the advice. Have pinged them for input. Hope I'm doing it correctly. Will wait for them before updating the template. Thanks! Bpc.sg (talk) 01:39, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
