A tag has been placed on Power and Control, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Your recent edits[edit]

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 16:58, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome and I shall do so BobV01 17:53, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that this only applies on talk and discussion pages but not in articles - a mistake I made when I first started. Agathoclea 17:56, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good Lord, I have been signing the article everytime I change anything. Your comments understood, I will [1] desist and [2] clean up the articles proper. Thank you very much, again - BobBobV01 18:03, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Power and Control Wheel over females.GIF[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Power and Control Wheel over females.GIF. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:52, 29 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - Please do not license other peoples work as your own. Agathoclea 16:52, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In response to your questions/comments. For an item to be uploaded to it either has to be under a free license or qualify under fair use. In your particular case - you claim that the image in question has been licensed by the copyright holder as 'public domain' or whichever license they have provided. An absence of a copyright notice or turning a blind eye to multiple infractions of said copyright does not automatically make it "free". What you need to do is to find a web page or publication of the copyright holder, where they explicitly state the free license. Agathoclea 17:36, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agathoclea, generally understood, becuase this image is found in governemnt publications, I intend then to cite the image to USN which has a free use policy. There is no copyright holder purposefully, If you can extend the deletion time: I may have a cite and permission in one hour, however this weekend is extremely busy in the US, and I may not receive the material until mid-next week, I simply do not know.THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENTS.BobV01 17:45, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a note of your comment above on the image discussion page and at a spot where copyright watchers are looking. Even if it should be deleted - once the license information is available, it can be undeleted. Agathoclea 18:08, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome[edit]

You never have been properly welcomed - so please note the following:

Welcome!

Hello, BobV01, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome!

In particular I want to draw your attention to wikilinks. If you want to link to Family it is better to use [[family]] rather than [[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family]]. Together with the above information that will help you along. Agathoclea 18:08, 29 August 2007 (UTC) Awesome (wikilinks) so much cleaner, and thank you for the wellcome.[reply]

It's an amazing article. I'm fighting for you over at the AFD. Drop by and vote to keep, because I honestly believe the article is amazing and that you're doing all you can with it. Porterjoh 21:46, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reformatted Power and Control[edit]

In an effort to at least make it readable, I've reformatted it and wikified it (to a degree). I don't doobt it will still be deleted, but at least it can now be easily read and therefore people can make a more enlightened judgement on it. I've also cropped and re-uploaded the in-line image so that it is easier to read. --WebHamster 23:40, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Power and Control[edit]

Yes I saw the deletion. To be honest it was inevitable. What I'd suggest is to recreate the article in your own user space. Then work on it there. Ask for help from the editors in the help areas eg WP:ADOPT. Then when it's ready for public consumption make a new article. All the best. --WebHamster 19:31, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All try to figure out the user space thing, the WP:adopt is clear enough. Web Hamster thank you for all your helpBobV01 19:36, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have userfied the article to User:BobV01/Power and Control. Please continue to edit the article there in order to improve it so that it can be included. Please do not use any categories or anything else, that might suggest this is a proper article. Note I added a colon in front of the Category to stop it showing.
Beware that if there is no improvement over some reasonable time the article might even be deleted in userspace.
My recommendation would be to focus on the history of the image and its concept rather its content.
Most important you need to establish notability - that is showing that the outside world - books - magazines - TV - hold the subject notable. Agathoclea 21:31, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. Thank you.

Your comments at Talk:WikiProject Gender studies[1] are violating WP:SOAP and WP:NOT#FORUM. Wikipedia is not a soapbox and not a forum. This type of commentary is considered inappropriate use of talk pages. Also comments are to be added to talk pages in chronological order - that means new ones go at the bottom, see WP:TALK.--Cailil talk 22:02, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Power And Control[edit]

hows the article coming on? Porterjoh (talk) 22:12, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

J still here, there have been ongoing developments: Duluth received its fourth adverse from DOJ, more details are being un-earthed about the Framingham Eight and published, Minnesota redacted its previous call to "end patriarchy and establish egalitarian..." The whole set of statistics, used diatribically and without cites or peer review to establish the whole concept of Power and Control (modern usage in socio-political context) has recently been refuted by analysis of current data and published. Rather than preparing a journal, with periodic updates, I am assimilating the data (published) will submit to peer review (outside of Wiki) for the entry and re-submit. Good to hear that pal. Porterjoh (talk) 20:03, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:Power and Control Wheel over males.GIF listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Power and Control Wheel over males.GIF, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Hi. Thanks for your contribution to Wikipedia. I removed your addition to the Oxycodone article because it was plagiarized. Also, your addition didn't use encyclopedic style. It may be appropriate to add a sentence about addiction or about the book, but it would have to be in your own words, and would have to fit the context of the article. TimidGuy (talk) 12:19, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Great job of writing your addition to the article. TimidGuy (talk) 16:21, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'll also thank you for the addition regarding addiction and oxycodone. I see that you referenced Dreamland. I recently read this, and spent some time today looking at different related Wikipedia articles, such as pain management, opioids, oxycodone, for example. All of them seem to omit much discussion at all about addiction, history, mortality, the international illicit drug industry, and the whipsaw changes in prescription policy that first in 1990s lead to leniency, now are swinging back to more restriction. All feels very whitewashed. For example, how can an article about oxycodone not include any mention of the criminal conviction of Purdu Pharma and its executives in 2007 for misrepresenting OxyContin.

Interested in your thoughts. LaTeeDa (talk) 19:06, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
