June 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm FDW777. Your recent edit(s) to the page Jeffrey Donaldson appear to have added incorrect information, so they have been reverted for now. If you believe the information was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.

Jeffrey Donaldson is not yet leader of the DUP, as I specifically pointed out to you. He becomes leader if/when ratified by the DUP's ruling executive, which is supposed to meet this week. FDW777 (talk) 20:27, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not move a page to a title that is harder to follow, or move it unilaterally against naming conventions or consensus, as you did to Kim Seok-jin. This includes making page moves while a discussion remains underway. We have some guidelines to help with deciding what title is best for a subject. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Thank you. ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:06, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 22:55, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your posts, are showing the wrong time.[edit]

Why does your posts show the wrong UTC time? GoodDay (talk) 01:52, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They aren't. I made the post at UTC 02:37. (talk) 03:04, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You're about an hour off, check the contribs. You gotta sign you posts with 4 tildes. For example: Your response should be showing 02:04, not 03:04. GoodDay (talk) 02:22, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Read up on WP:SIGNATURES, for assistance. GoodDay (talk) 02:25, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not, I wrote what my time was, which was 03:04, I am not in the timezone UTC 1-. talk 22:26, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You're not listening. I'll ask an administrator to explain it to you. GoodDay (talk) 21:53, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Suggestion: go to the "Preferences" link at the top of the page, click the "Beta features" link near the top of that page, scroll down, select the checkbox for "Discussion tools", and click the "Save" button. Comments in discussions will now have a "reply" link afterwards. Please use that to reply. Enterprisey (talk!) 22:27, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Beatrix TBS, all comments should be timestamped in UTC, rather than your local time zone, otherwise we end up with a confusing mess when editors in different time zones start replying to each other (like how above it looks like GoodDay responded to you before you made your comment). There's no need to type out the time manually, just add 4 tides to the end of your comment like this ~~~~ and the server will deal with everything automatically for you. 192.76.8.91 (talk) 00:04, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
A source of confusion seems to be that UTC does not use summer time, while it appears to be used in Ireland. Thus, Ireland uses UTC+1 (1 hour ahead, so 1 hour needs to be subtracted) during summer time, and UTC±0 during winter time. — Lauritz Thomsen (talk) 08:29, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm guessing that maybe Beatrix TBS, just doesn't understand, or it's a techno issue. GoodDay (talk) 18:43, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You made the post at 03:04 British Summer Time or 03:04 Irish Standard Time, that corresponds to 02:04 UTC, which is an hour behind BST and IST. Your signature is therefore showing the incorrect time "03:04, 8 August 2021 (UTC)". It was not made at that time. It was made at 02:04, 8 August 2021 (UTC) and 03:04, 8 August 2021 (IST). Please show times in UTC. DrKay (talk) 06:31, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm confused, UTC and GMT are the same thing no? I am in GMT and am just writing the time that appears on all of my digital clocks Beatrix TBS 19:22, 9 August 2021 (IST)

Wait, so even though i'm in UTC timezone, because it is summer time it is labelled as UTC 1+? Beatrix TBS 19:25, 9 August 2021 (IST)

UTC is GMT. BST and IST are UTC+1. DrKay (talk) 18:34, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Are you not capable of properly signing your posts? Is this a keyboard issue? GoodDay (talk) 18:40, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean am I not capable of signing my posts properly? I just signed my last one with the correct time. Beatrix TBS 18:51, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
By joe, I believe you got it :) GoodDay (talk) 18:57, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive edits[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Canterbury Tail talk 19:18, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You put Belfast in the wrong country (or at least added it to a landmass for confusion), you are assigning people nationalities without any sources to back them up, you reinstated an edit that linked a nationality to a boxing association. Also you are reinstating edits that put people in a category that they are already in a more specific and correct subcategory. Irish male boxers is for boxers from the country of Ireland, someone from Northern Ireland has their own category. This is considered disruptive. Canterbury Tail talk 19:18, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

you are assigning people nationalities without any sources to back them up Paddy was born on the Island of Ireland and identifies as Irish so his nationality is such. Also you are reinstating edits that put people in a category that they are already in a more specific and correct subcategory. Irish male boxers is for boxers from the country of Ireland, someone from Northern Ireland has their own category. The first part was an accident and I was unaware about the second, my apologies. Beatrix TBS 17:05, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately you would need a reliable source to back up that he identifies as Irish. He was born in Northern Ireland, and even the photo you have of him quite clearly states British. I know that's for an organisation, but we do not ascribe a nationality to people (especially contentiously in Northern Ireland) without a firm reliable source to back it up. Canterbury Tail talk 17:39, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Paddy Maquire (boxer)[edit]

I must ask, as the photos you uploaded appear to be have been taken from personal photos, but what is your connection to Paddy Macquire? Canterbury Tail talk 20:02, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Grand-Uncle. Beatrix TBS 17:01, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ah in which case, you need to follow WP:COI and the instructions within. Unfortunately this means you really shouldn't be editing the article and should be suggesting edits on the talk page since you have a conflict of interest. Canterbury Tail talk 17:37, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
