Artie Shaw[edit]

Hello,

Thanks for your excellent contribution to the Artie Shaw page. Am I right in saying that much of that information originates from the Tom Nolan biography? If so, then it would be great if some of the references can be included in the text. I added one but as I only have access to a preview on Google Books, I'm unable to complete it. You will see it listed as the second reference, in edit (beta) just add citation and reuse the existing one. Thanks again! (Karst (talk)

Many thanks for your comprehensive reply. I have moved it to the Talk page of Artie Shaw, so that it does not simply gets lost among the various messages that I receive. I felt that such an elaborate response deserved to be highlighted on the page associated with the artist. It certainly is very useful to discuss the sources. And I suppose the historian in me would encourage you to commit more of your experiences with Shaw to paper. I will respond to the content under your post, so that the discussion is kept in one place. Thanks again! Karst (talk) 10:59, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Enoch Light, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Stardust and Let's Dance. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

November 2015[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Big band may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
 • acoustic), acoustic bass or electric bass, drums, and piano). Some big bands use additional instruments, such as various woodwinds, horns, tuba and percussion.

Big band[edit]

Thank you for your edits to that article (and other articles). I have no doubt that you are well informed on the subject - much more than I am - and I'm sure your edits are generally accurate and helpful. However, I think you should be aware of our policies on original research, the need for reliable sources to support statements, and also that introductions are there to summarize the text of an article rather than contain additional information. It would help matters greatly - and avoid other editors coming along to delete your edits as "against policy" - if you could check through what you have written, and add reliable published sources that support the statements you have made. I am happy to copy-edit your text in due course, and help however I can, but I am not a musician and, as I said, am not very well-informed on the detailed history of big bands. As it stands, however, it would not surprise me if other editors took the view that your edits are contrary to policy and summarily removed them - and I would not want to see that happen.
