I'm just a random Wikipedia user who got bored online one day, and ran across some articles regarding the war in Iraq that just didn't sound right to me. In these articles, Zarqawi was a 'gurrella' leader, IED's and random mortar fire are 'insurgent tactics,' and worse yet, the word 'terrorist' was never used once to describe anyone or any group. I have learned this word carries a negative connotation, so in order to prevent showing bias, it is not used. However, when someone can genuinely say and prove that an individual or group actively participates and encourages random attacks without regard to civilians, then I believe this label should and must apply. Otherwise, the attempt to stay neutral makes the article unintenionally biased in their favor. In order to prevent these articles from reading like excerpts from the "New York Times," the term 'terrorist' must be used where appropriate.

Terrorism is not an American word for insurgency. It is a global problem, striking innocent civilians in New York, London, Madrid, Tokyo, Oklahoma City, Iraq, and other places. It is a malicious act, intended as a way for a violent group to 'get their point across.' There is no excuse or justification for this, nor any politically correct way to translate it into a more sanitized term. To make this an objective account of current events, terrorism must be called for what it is.

If anyone out there wants to help with this, please send me other page names/ideas/links, or even start trying to edit other pages that you find. We may even be able to form a group that can work on this together. I am currently working on the article entitled 'Iraqi Insurgency.' Any help is greatly appreciated.

My pleasure, if you found what I said helpful. Living in Germany has taught me that a lot of things that seem obvious to me require a lot of arguments which have been inspected from every angle to be accepted. Not that people are dumb or simple minded - the share is probably as equal here as there - but because the way people think is so totaly different. It teaches a lot of patience. :-) I can understand that you feel strongly about it, as do I.
