Reliable sources[edit]

Please do not add unsourced or poorly sourced information to Wikipedia. In most cases, YouTube videos are not reliable sources. When they are uploaded by an official channel that owns the copyright, they may be reliable; this would be the case for news programs, for example. Fan-created videos are definitely not reliable sources, and they are often copyright violations. Please do not link to these videos. Also, please be aware that "proof" that something exists does not mean that it is reliably sourced. If nobody else cares enough to report on something, it should not be included in Wikipedia; otherwise, it is undue. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 18:21, 23 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sites like the IMDB and Everything2 are not reliable sources. Please do not add content sourced to these sites. I have cleaned up Nighthawks (film) a bit, but there's still plenty of unsourced content and original research. Instead of adding even more, I suggest that you work on fixing what's already there. Paraphrase the quotations, fix the grammar, find citations for the content you've already added, etc. This article is quickly turning into a fansite full of indiscriminate trivia related the film, and that needs to be cut down. Also, please be careful of statements where you say that the film has a cult following, etc. In order to make statements such as these, you need to cite a reliable source that says so. You can't use Wikipedia as a soapbox to air your opinions and analysis on a film. You should use the IMDB forums or a blog to do so. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and that means that we can only report what reliable sources have already said. I would suggest that you read through our core content policies. Deleted scenes[edit]

I refer to your edits such as this one: [1]. Wikipedia film articles are not supposed to include a comprehensive list of all deleted scenes. An article is an overview of its subject. At most, a mention that deleted scenes exist on a DVD version should be sufficient. If there is coverage of said scenes from non-primary sources you could perhaps include a small paragraph about them, but they should definitely not be included in a large list format.

Please do not use bare urls for references on wikipedia, as they are subject to link rot. Please consider formatting your references with an approved method, such as Template:Cite web.

Also please be aware that just like in prose, you should only use capitals for the first word and proper nouns in headings. I appreciate your interest in the article Tank Girl (film), and you've clearly put a lot of effort into it, so I wish I didn't have to revert your changes. Here are problems I see with this specific edit [2]:

The denofgeek.com reference clearly states it was a "10 inch" prosthetic. Even if it was 12 inches, you cannot change this unless you have a reliable source that confirms it was 12 inches.

As the youtube videos you have used as references are of copyrighted material, you could only use them as a source if it was uploaded by the copyright holder. And even if it was uploaded by the copyright holder, you would not be able to use them in the location you placed them as they do not back up your claims. For example the first youtube source itself does not back up the statement that "MGM studio demanded for it to be cut because they thought it was way too bestial", the scene itself only confirms that the scene exists, it mentions nothing about why the scene was not used.

http://mugwump.typepad.com/my_weblog/2004/11/my_first_post_t.html and http://www.twisted.org.uk/tg/movie.cut.html do not appear to meet wikipedia's criteria for reliable sources

Most importanty, you don't actually have reliable sources for most of your claims. There is no source for your statement "According to director Rachel Talalay there was approximately about an hour of footage that was cut out of the movie", or that "test audience loved it Cold Room scene" etc

Your edits contain bare urls, and this article is a good article nominee; bare urls would not be accepted in a good article review. Also you've chosen to re-add the denofgeek reference as a bare url, even though it is already correctly formatted elsewhere, and could simply be used again by placing <ref name=geek/> (incidentally this is how you format a reference in the approved method I mentioned: <ref name=geek>{{cite web |url=http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/test-screenings/32412/51-films-and-how-they-were-affected-by-test-screenings/page/0/1 |title=51 films, and how they were affected by test screenings |last=Brew |first=Simon |date=10 October 2014 |work=[[Den of Geek]] |access-date=25 March 2015}}</ref>

Lastly, and i'm not trying to offend you when I say this, but your grammar isn't very good. I get the impression that English is not your first language. While your English is certainly good enough to understand what you mean, it isn't really up to encyclopaedia standards. Example: "including $5,000 worth prosthetic 12 inch penis was created by Stan Winston and his crew specially for the bed scene between Booga and Rebecca but MGM studio demanded for it to be cut because they thought it was way too bestial" with correct grammar would read 'including a 12 inch prosthetic penis worth $5,000 that was created by Stan Winston and his crew specially for the bed scene between Booga and Rebecca, though MGM demanded the scene be cut because they thought it was too bestial'. Thanks again and i apologize for making even more mistakes. I happen to be huge fan of this movie so i just wanted to share some information that i didn't noticed much people are aware of. As for things like exact running time of original cut and other stuff, i heard it in interviews and commentary in special edition of the movie. But since i can't find it anywhere online to confirm it's true i guess i'll have to give up from re-posting my contributions. I hope that i proved to you that i didn't just talk bs about deleted scenes. Thanks for your help, it's good to have someone to pull you back if you start to go way too fast. Thanks for being so understanding, I was hoping you didn't think I was just deleting your edits just to be mean. Just so you know, reliable sources do not have to be online, you can actually use the interviews and commentary on the DVD/Blu-ray as a source. See Template:Cite AV media for how to reference this properly; in the case of the audio commentary I think you need to specify the exact time that the comment is made. Here is another film article that I wrote for you to see as an example: Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Notice that references 7 and 17 are featurettes on the Blu-ray of the film. Note that you need to specify the name of the special feature; reference 17 specifies that the information is found in "Matte Art Explorations" which is specified to be a "(Blu-ray featurette)". Anyway, while you can use the special features as sources, you should only use sources such as these sparingly, as an article should not have to rely heavily on primary sources (note that I have only used half a dozen special features sources out of well over 100 inline citations). I only have the regular version of the Tank Girl DVD (and I love the film too), so I haven't seen the special features, otherwise I would have added relevant information from them myself. As I've mentioned, I currently have this article nominated for good status. While the nomination is open (it's hard to say when the nomination will be reviewed, sometimes it only takes days and other times you have to wait a couple months), it's probably not a good idea for us to revert each others edits, as this may make the article seem unstable, which would look bad at the review. To make things less complicated, and to save us both some time, why don't you tell me the information you think should be included from the special features, specify the names of said special features, and i'll work on integrating it into the article? It's been quite some time since i last watched features from Collector's/Special Edition and the copy i had was not mine, but i'll see if can get it one way or other and use it to add some reliable information. Can't promise anything though so don't expect for it to happen, but don't worry, if i manage to get it i will let you know first. By the way, nice to meet another fan of this cult classic! I highly recommend picking up Collector's Edition by Shout Factory. It has no actual deleted scenes included in it (and yet few of them are on Youtube?) but Rachel Talalay and Lori Petty do mention some interesting bits about original cut and deleted scenes on commentary and features. I just finished watching the special features and director's commentary, and have added a summary of information from said features to the article's talk page. I will shortly be adding information to the article, so you don't have to worry about tracking down a copy and doing it yourself anymore. Adding personal analysis to articles[edit]

Hi there, while you seem to be very knowledgeable about various film productions, at Wikipedia you cannot add your personal analyses to articles as you've done in numerous places including here and here, as this constitutes original research. Content needs to be verifiable, and since we can't go to the library and check out your brain, all content added should be supported by sufficient references. In the case of the Cursed (2005 film) content, almost none of what you added is supported by the references you included. In this edit, you've directly quoted someone without providing a reference for that quote. For these reasons, I had to remove the content. Thanks, and it's nothing personal. If you can dig up references to support all the content, please resubmit. And if you're using DVD commentary as a reference, you should familiarize yourself with Template:Cite AV media which will make it easier for other readers to understand where the info is coming from. Copyright violation[edit]

Most of the content you added to Lethal Weapon 2 was a copy-paste copyright violation from the IMDb trivia section for this film. You can not copy-paste content from the IMDb like this. You are required to put it into your own words. This is important because you could get blocked if you continue to do this. Besides the legal ramifications of copying text, the IMDb is not a reliable source, and you can't just trust whatever users add to it. The sources that you cited did not back up much of what you added. I have partially rewritten it to avoid copyright violations and be verifiable according to the sources cited. The IMDb trivia for the film was picked up from what i wrote before you removed it. Originally they had maybe like two or three lines and Trivia details regarding just the original ending, and even that was incorrect, because even over there they said how in the original script Riggs dies on the boat but that's not true. If you have any further problems, please go and deal with them over there, and not with me. I was already warned before about using IMDb trivia so i stopped with that not too long ago, but there were times when this exact same thing happened where what i write on wikipedia gets copied on IMDb (I think it was when i added some info about Disturbing Behavior but i can't remember for sure). As for Lethal Weapon 2, i'm going to re-write some of the info i originally posted and try to make it different from IMDb trivia details. Also, i'm trying to find two more interviews with writer Shane Black regarding the original Play Dirty script for Lethal Weapon 2 in which he talked more about stuff like the themes of his draft and ending, in order to add the links for those inteviews.
