Aloha, and welcome. Have a look at the South African Wikimedia chapter if you want more information on things like local meetups. -- Jeandré, 2012-11-01t11:06z
Hey thanks for informing me of that.

I've actually checked out wikimedia.org.za but couldn't register there :( . I sent a email to the join address on the site and am eagerly awaiting a reply. I hope I get added there soon as I have some great ideas already. :) Airbender3 (Talk) 21:09, 1 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Update GOCE member page script?[edit]

Hey there. I saw a message you left at User talk:SMasters asking a question about the GOCE:

"Hi

I don't really know who else to ask but here's my request. On GOCE Members page there is a template that we can add to our user page. When it is added there our names get automatically updated on that page. How is this operation performed?

I am interested in installing this on a few other projects members pages?

Thank you in advance."

He hasn't been very active, so probably won't answer your question. Just to clarify, are you asking about being added to a category after adding the GOCE member userbox to your page, or is it something else? —Torchiest talkedits 21:13, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I did figure that its a category page. See on projects like Blogging for e.g. They have a userbox to add to the userpage but it doesn't update the member list. That has to be done manually.
I would like to edit a few portals and do it like GOCE. How do I do that? Thanks Airbender3 (Talk) 04:02, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I added Category:WikiProject Blogging members to that user box, so everyone with it is in the category now. I don't think there's a way to update a separate list, unless you had some kind of bot monitoring the category maybe. On the portals, can you give me an example? What parts of the GOCE layout are you talking about? —Torchiest talkedits 06:32, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay... I'm listed on the GOCE Members page and all I did was add the userbox to my user profile. So if you say you added category to blogging project, then does it work the same. Do I get added to the blogging project members page now?
or do I have to edit the blogging project members page? Thanks Airbender3 (Talk) 14:15, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
We have the members page, which explains how the user box works, and we also have the mailing list, but I don't see your name on that. If by list you mean Category:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors members, then yes, you're added to that when you put the user box on your page. The same thing happens with the WP blogging user box now too. In fact, you're listed in that category twice, because you've got the user box in two places: User:Airbender3/links and User:Airbender3/sandbox. —Torchiest talkedits 14:49, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I basically understand that I should redirect blogging members page to the category page. :) Yeah I had no idea I was listed twice too. Links is a sort of bookmark page for me.
