Please do not copy other sites like this into Wikipedia. Jpatokal (talk) 11:34, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you can and should use other sites as references, but you cannot copy them word by word. Also, the population of Delhi has (almost) nothing to do with the Delhi Metro. Jpatokal (talk) 13:06, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:506418772kpmeyefs0vb-1-.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:506418772kpmeyefs0vb-1-.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 10:05, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Delhi Metro images[edit]

I doubt that the images have been released under a license that Wikipedia counts as 'free'. I realise that they hold little commercial value and that the original photographers probably don't mind what anyone does with them, but until they have been expressively released under a free license (or into the public domain) we can't use them. If they have been released, please link me to where they were released, and I can help you tag the images as appropriate. J Milburn (talk) 15:49, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright problems[edit]

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Image:Metro map big.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). As a copyright violation, Image:Metro map big.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Image:Metro map big.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at [[Talk:Image:Metro map big.jpg]] and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at [[Talk:Image:Metro map big.jpg]] with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on [[Talk:Image:Metro map big.jpg]].

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. Jpatokal (talk) 17:09, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let me attempt to explain this one more time.
The Delhi Metro owns the copyright on any images they create, including that map of the Delhi Metro.
Wikipedia cannot use this image unless Delhi Metro's explicitly agrees to license the image as GFDL or Creative Commons.
Yes, there are other sites using the image without permission. That doesn't mean that they have permission to do so, or that Wikipedia can do the same.
So please stop uploading images unless you have taken them yourself and thus own the copyright. Jpatokal (talk) 09:56, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Please do not change referenced text in Delhi Metro without also updating the references. For example, you changed the total station count to 68, but the referenced article says "67". Jpatokal (talk) 01:31, 27 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:Airport Express Line (Delhi Metro).png or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
