POV[edit]

To avoid being accused of POV edits, make sure you check the reliability of your sources and make every effort to represent significant opposing views. Viriditas (talk) 03:28, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The idea right now is to just report what is found in reliable sources. Multiple viewpoints are being given (his family, Maliki, other state actors). If U.S. officials were saying anything then it could be reported, but as far as I can tell they have been mum.--75.2.37.86 (talk) 03:30, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you think it would be helpful, we could repeat that George W. Bush said he has no hard feelings, Iraq is a democracy, etc. I just haven't seen them talking about it so it is hard to add their comments.--75.2.37.86 (talk) 03:33, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure you completely understand the WP:NPOV policy. Read it, and then get back to me. Viriditas (talk) 03:37, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I feel as if all significant viewpoints being reported by reliable sources are being represented. If you think someone is being misrepresented or not represented, I would certainly encourage you to make modifications or start a discussion with me about something specific.--75.2.37.86 (talk) 03:41, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd tried making it clear that it is only al-Zaidi's family making claims. That being said, I haven't seen anyone providing evidence that these claims are bogus either.
Perhaps it could be made clear that Iraqi journalists at a Maliki press conference were condemning al-Zaidi's actions? I am not sure what you are going for..--75.2.37.86 (talk) 03:44, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I found a comment by Secretary Rice as well, hopefully this somewhat addresses your concerns.--75.2.37.86 (talk) 03:52, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that this is a biographical article. Currently, the content that is being added is moving away from the scope of a biography. It would be easier to discuss this with you if you could create a single account. Since you are using dynamic IP's, there's no way to have a discussion with you on your talk pages, so I may have to insist on discussing everything on the article talk page. You should also be aware that if vandalism from any IP's begins to interfere with editing, you will find all IP's blocked due to semi-protection; what this means is that the sooner you create an account, the better, as you will have more leverage as an editor. Is there a particular reason you do not wish to create an account? Viriditas (talk) 06:47, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Discussing on the article talk page would be fine with me.--75.2.37.86 (talk) 08:12, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Other comments[edit]

Here are a few other comments you may wish to add:

http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/dpb/2008/113322.htm MR. MCCORMACK: I – you know, I think that the Iraqi authorities are dealing with the matter. You know, Secretary Rice has spoken to this in a number of different interviews, and I’ll give you the shorthand version of it. And that is that we would hope that the fact of a U.S. president standing next to a freely elected prime minister of Iraq, who just happens to be Shia, who’s governing in a multiconfessional, multiethnic democracy in the heart of the Middle East, is not overshadowed by one incident like this. The Iraqi authorities are going to deal with it. And then I – the President has also spoken to it as well in general terms.

QUESTION: So your point is that everyone in the news media has gotten everything out of – blown everything out of proportion?

MR. MCCORMACK: No, look I– you know, I – no, that’s –

QUESTION: My question is really –

MR. MCCORMACK: No, that’s not my point. I’m not criticizing the media. This isn’t my – that’s not my intention here. I just – I would hope that –

QUESTION: Well, it seemed the Secretary came very close to doing that yesterday in an interview.

MR. MCCORMACK: Well, look, you guys make decisions about what you cover. I suspect – just a guess – that three, four, five, ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty years from now that the fact of the President making that visit under those circumstances will probably overshadow any memory of this particular gentleman and what he did.

http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/dpb/2008/113392.htm QUESTION: This judge says that it does appear that this – that the guy was beaten up. And I’m just wondering if they’re going to open an investigation into whether he was mistreated or not, and I’m just wondering if you have any comment about the general –

MR. MCCORMACK: This is –

QUESTION: -- about this latest development.

MR. MCCORMACK: Look, I don’t – you know, I hadn’t seen those comments, Matt. We said yesterday this is for Iraqi authorities to deal with. Certainly, nobody wants anybody to be mistreated while they’re in custody. I can’t attest to these allegations, however.

Yeah.

These don't seem to add much and they are a few days old, but that is my opinion. If you feel something would be good for the article, I would encourage you to add it.--75.2.37.86 (talk) 04:22, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
