Current: In 2005, New Brunswick was the first Canadian province to officially observe the holiday as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, an action granted by the New Brunswick Department of Health and Wellness on October 12, 2005.[25][14][better source needed] New Brunswick Minister of Health and Wellness Elvy Robichaud called on provincial residents to provide "support, education and awareness for grieving parents who have lost children during pregnancy or shortly after birth" due to miscarriage and infant death being "a source of grief, often silent, for mothers, fathers, siblings and grandparents."[26]

Previous: New Brunswick, Canada is the first province or state and country in the world to officially observe October 15 pregnancy and infant loss remembrance Day with declarations in both official languages, English and French, in recognition, issued by the New Brunswick Department of health and Wellness, October 12, 2005. Through the lobby efforts of Terra-Lynn Coggan, a Saint John resident with the assistance of former Saint John Champlain HMM roly MacIntyre, New Brunswick Minister of Health and Wellness, the Honourable Elvy Robichaud declared October 15, to be Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day across the province, October 12, 2005, citing "miscarriage and infant mortality are a source of grief, often silent, for mothers, fathers, siblings, and grandparents." He urged the people of the province to help promote "support, education and awareness for grieving parents who have lost children during pregnancy or shortly after birth.

Be aware: The Wave of Light was founded October 2003 by Terra-Lynn Coggan following the stillbirth of her nephew who she was to adopt. Prior to the creation of the wave of light by Terra-Lynn balloon releases were held in October 15th not candle lighting. There is substantial evidence to support the aforementioned statements made herein, including however not limited to the prior article submitted on March 16, along with a edit request to update the sections to which it relates, the link is valid and the article is available via the New Brunswick News Archive.
