May 2021[edit]

I recently reverted two of your edits on Lineage P.1 and Lineage B.1.351. These edits involved removing references such as a BBC source, a Sky News source and on Lineage B.1.351, an internal link to a Talk page which list sources for the "South African coronavirus variant", which can be read at Talk:South African COVID variant). Material supported by these references was also removed. The reason you provided in the edit summary does not take account of the fact that both of the pages you edited lack a specific section dealing with nomenclature, which your comparator page, Lineage B.1.1.7#Names does have, so they can't readily be compared. The issue of variant names can be a tricky area for editors, so it is best to open a discussion on the respective article's Talk page and seek to reach a consensus as to what the name should be. One solution (for Lineage B.1.617 and Lineage B.1.1.7) has been to avoid making reference to location-based names in the Lead, instead dealing with them in a dedicated section with the heading "Names".
