Thanks @Ad Orientem. I have repeatedly asked @RabbitWolf to discuss his changes before continuing the edit war. I hope your warning does its job! 10bucchr (talk) 21:06, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ad Orientem FYI
@10bucchr please show me every single thing you find incorrect or not factual or not cited with my edits to take such action as to remove ALL my edits in it's entirety? RabbitWolf (talk) 04:18, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@10bucchr....otherwise undo your deletions so that the heavily cited facts about Sasol is displayed on it's Wiki page. Keep in mind Sasol does not own this page, it is a community effort. RabbitWolf (talk) 04:21, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. "10bucchr" keeps deleting my entire contributions, including original photographs, instead of editing my additions. This user is clearly trying to turn Sasol's page into a promotional page for the company, by deleting my heavily cited additions. My additions are based on facts reported on by a plethora of reputable news/media agencies, yet "10bucchr" keeps deleting these facts about Sasol as it shows a true picture of Sasol's history and current actions. I believe Wikipedia is a site that relies on cited facts instead of a promotional effort by the entity on which the article is based. I would like 10bucchr to undo his deletion of my edits, and then edit as he deems necessary, not keep removing everything on my name. Discussing with 10bucchr is impossible, as he wants to act as the police/security guard for Sasol's Wiki page, and removes any negative facts about the company. Please advise. RabbitWolf (talk) 04:16, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@10bucchr @RabbitWolf The two of you need to take your content dispute(s) to the article talk page and sort this out. If you need help you can refer to WP:DR. But this slow motion edit war is to stop. -Ad Orientem (talk) 04:40, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ad Orientem Thank you. I will undo his deletions, and as I have suggested to @10bucchr he can then edit/remove the parts that he believes is NOT FACTUAL, and he can then give reasons for each edit he does, or edit he removes. My edits has been "thanked" by another user also, which clearly shows that my edits are factual.
@10bucchr RabbitWolf (talk) 05:22, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ad Orientem There is a clear difference between me and @10bucchr, I add heavily cited facts, and @10bucchr is trying to keep Sasol's page clean of all negative facts, he is clearly affiliated with Sasol. You are welcome to check my citations in my edits.
@10bucchr kindly see that you keep your edits precise and concise. Edit/remove what you find not to be factual. Note the citations, it's going to be difficult. Please refrain from deleting ALL my edits as a whole AGAIN just because you are too lazy search for and to edit the parts you don't find factual. I believe you will find it very difficult going, as my edits are based on facts and citations as is prescribed in Wikipedia's code. To again delete my complete addition in it's entirety will just prove my point. RabbitWolf (talk) 05:35, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@RabbitWolf: I have to question your neutrality in this case. It seems as though you have an axe to grind with Sasol, and Wikipedia is not the place to do it. The images and captions you have added, documenting Sasol's supposed air pollution, appear to be largely water vapor emissions from industrial cooling towers. To say that they are anything different, without sources, is biased original research. While the facts you have added are properly cited, the tone of the article is decidedly non-neutral, and gives undue weight to the matters at hand. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 11:41, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61 Thank you for the feedback.
The smoke coming out of the two very tall smokestacks is from burning coal, not just like an average power station, but if you look at Sasol's "Fischer Tropsch" process you will note that Sasol burns coal together with Oxygen and steam in order to create the Synthetic Gas from which they produce their products. In the citations I added is governmental studies which show that the Sasol Secunda facility is non-compliant with the "Minimum Emission Standards" of South Africa. Sasol has been non-compliant in this regard since 2015, and Sasol has used litigation against the South African government in order to be allowed to be non-compliant with no repercussions. I live in this town Secunda where this Sasol factory is, therefore I have many such photographs, but what I also know, as most Secunda residents do, is that those emissions smell like H2S, Sulphur, or other noxious gasses, especially when it rains, unfortunately photographs do not do the situation justice.
As for my background, I am a resident of Secunda, not affiliated with Sasol. As for my edits, they are factual and cited. And the very real situation is that Sasol Secunda is a stranded asset, and because of their own actions of polluting the largest fresh water source of South Africa, as well as the air pollution non-compliance, Sasol faces closure in the near future.
How may I change the tone of my edits? RabbitWolf (talk) 14:14, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@RabbitWolf I have page blocked you for one week for edit warring. You ignored my warning on your talk page and my above message. You then restored your preferred version without any attempt at discussion or attaining WP:CONSENSUS. If you continue your disruptive editing after the current page block expires, I will site block you. I don't like repeating myself so this should be understood as a Final Warning. The edit warring stops right now. All further discussion regarding Sasol is to occur on the talk page of that article. -Ad Orientem (talk) 14:03, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I hope you also warned the user trying to keep factual edits from Sasol's page in order to keep it a promotional page. RabbitWolf (talk) 14:15, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is my page @RabbitWolf
When you are allowed back, please be sure to state your conflict of interest on the Sasol page? Then we can discuss your additions on the talk page before you add them?
I think a page on Ian Erasmus, the whistleblower, might be useful. Obviously he shouldn’t edit it, so I’ll help out there. What you’ve written about him and what I heard about him in the corridors (and not from loyalists) before I left is very different.
As a third party I think I am well suited to provide a balanced view on Sasol and Ian. 10bucchr (talk) 14:58, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@RabbitWolf; WikiDan61 is not engaged in edit warring. You were. You need to spend the coming days familiarizing yourself with important guidelines and policies before attempting to edit that page. I would start with WP:BRD, WP:COI, WP:DR, WP:3RR, and WP:CONSENSUS. -Ad Orientem (talk) 15:15, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@10bucchr @RabbitWolf @WikiDan61 All further discussion regarding changes to the article are to occur at Talk:Sasol. IMO this discussion has run its useful course here and I am now going to close it. -Ad Orientem (talk) 15:18, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
10bucchr: as I understand matters, you are either a current or former employee of Sasol, correct? If that is the case, I do not believe you would be the correct person to write an article about Ian Erasmus, the whistleblower against Sasol. Nor do I believe that he is sufficiently notable for his own article, but that's just my opinion. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:17, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
