I am a senior lecturer of history in Ludhiana, Punjab, India. I have a teaching experience of 17 years by now. I teach undergraduate and post graduate classes in Arya College, Ludhiana. The college is affiliated to Punjab University Chandigarh.

I have done M. A. History from Punjab University, Chandigarh. I cleared JRF/UGC NET in 1992. I availed the JRF from Kurukshetra University. However before completing the project, I joined the job at Arya College Ludhiana.

I had been on the Board of Studies Postgraduate of Punjab University Chandigarh. Presently, I am on Board of Studies, Postgraduate History, Board of Studies, Undergraduate History, and member elected of Faculty of Arts of Punjab University Chandigarh.

My field of interest is Modern India. In order to be more specific, I am interested in Social and Political History of India of seventeenth to twentieth century. No doubt, I always stop when the pre 1707 comes up.

Apart from that, I have developed interest in American History as it was a task assigned to me in the college. In addition to that I am now interested in intricacies of Digital history and internet. I do not have any formal education in computers, but with experience, I have learned about using computer and internet for different projects. I usually discuss such things at my blog titled sumir-history.blogspot.com.

When I had taken up JRF scholarship, I had worked on the topic, the growth of an Industrial Town, a study of Ludhiana. It had directed my attention to economics as required for studying history. I have kept my interest alive since then. As a spinoff, I have developed good understanding of India Capital Market. No doubt, some of my time is spent in learning about the Indian Capital Market through TV channels and Business Magazines. Many of my posts on my educational blogs carry the imprint of my understanding of historic development of Indian Capital Market. No doubt, while studying the social history, we have to study the economic factors also.

Presently I am trying to acquire additional qualification in computers from a reputed university of India which I will annouce only when I will complete the course.
