Can you help me see the bigger picture?[edit]

ViolinGirl said you may be able to help me.

Is there some way to see or print the tree of connections created by Categories for a given area, or within 3 or 4 connections of a given page? I have trouble getting my head around how all the pages link, without a schematic of some type. In areas of my expertise I see articles everywhere, but can't get clear enough in my mind all of the links - this stops me from suggesting proper reorganisations of legal knowledge. Hope you can help or refer me to someone who can.

Sublimation[edit]

Thank you for catching and reverting User:Sublimetime's repeated vandalism to my userpage. I had thought that the message I left on his talk page was friendly and encouraging, but... sigh. Why do these people bother. DS 00:59, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Firefox babel box[edit]

Hi Sango123, I noticed the Firefox box on my user page doesn't show up correctly. I first saw the Firefox box on your page, so I checked, and sure enough yours is broken too, so everyone's must be. It's because someone has moved the template so that "Firefox" has a capital F, but the redirect to a template doesn't work. The {{user firefox}} needs to be changed to point at the one with a capital, but I don't know where they are defined. Can you help? Thanks, JRawle 21:46, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

Question[edit]

Seeing you were the very first person to give me advice on Wikipedia, see here, I thought you must be bathed in wisdom. So I have a question for you. I've uploaded an image onto wikipedia. It is on my user page, but isn't showing. Is it just me or can neither of us see it? Plus is the licence I put on it suitable? I want to reserve the right to claim it at any point & want to be able to have my name attributed ot it, so like no one can go "This is my photo" & claim it as theirs. Can you please help? I desperately need help so my cat doesn't get used in the wrong circles, if you know what I mean.... Spawn Man 04:56, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

It's showing now.... but I still need advice on the licencing part... Spawn Man 04:57, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

I tried to do as you said, but failed miserably. Would you be able to put the liscence on there for me, saying that I don't want anyone claiming the picture for their own & for them to agknowledge me. Plus if they use it to get money, that that would be wrong? Something like that? Basically could you put that the image is mine & it is allowed for non-profit uses & that no one can claim it. It isn't urgent, but I really am amiss & would gladly repay you in which ever way you see fit for your troubles.... Thanks. Spawn Man 01:56, 5 January 2006 (UTC) (Smokey says hi back!).

JC has a Quick Question[edit]

Hi and thanks for your welcome message. I've got a quick question for you that may not have a quick answer, however I thought I give it a try...

Q: What would you think would be the correct "copyright tag" for an image I created by scanning the label of a 50 year old soup can (no longer used in commerce)? I read all the Help pages I could find regarding determining the proper copyright license (copyright tag), however it's pretty headdy stuff to take in in a single day (well, at least for me).

Thanks agin for your "Welcome to Wikiland" email; I'm working my way down the list of "good links for newcomers" you provided, including logging in as a new user. I look forward to contributing.

Regards... ...JC 07:27, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Merci beaucoup[edit]

Hello Sango123, thank you for your support in the Esperanza election. Let me know if I can do anything for you in return. with kind regards Gryffindor 16:17, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Favor[edit]

Hey, Sango, can you do me a favor? Administrators can delete accounts, right? My 10 year old brother created an account using his e-mail address, and he wants it deleted. If you want him to ask you himself, he can. Contact me whenever you get a chance about this, it's not a huge rush.--ViolinGirl 00:38, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Destroy![edit]

Could you please delete/destroy these two images? I was still experimenting & would like them destroyed & thrown into mount doom so noone else can see or use them again. I'll ask a couple of people so that it gets done quickly. Thanks again..... Spawn Man 01:48, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Coaching[edit]

Marvellous! I just sent Titoxd a message asking when we'd start. I'm happy to start as soon as you would like! Since this is such a new thing, and I dont know exactly where to begin, perhaps we could set up a thing where we (you an I, or even just one of us on different days) meet ViolinGirl once a day/week on the Esperanza IRC? Of course, we could do it differently, or not at all on IRC....Looking forward to working with you on this. Cheers Banes 05:26, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Many thanks for your support on my request for adminiship, I'm sure you'll be glad to know the final result was 92/1/0. I am now an administrator and (as always) if I do anything you have issue with, please talk about it with me. --Alf melmac 10:12, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your support on my request for adminship.

The final outcome was (80/3/0), so I am now an administrator. Admin Coaching[edit]

Sure, whenever you want to sounds good to me. Thanks for doing this for me! Is it coincidence or what, that the two people I consider my WikiMentors are also my admin coaches?--ViolinGirl 17:03, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Ah, so it's not coincidence. Well, I'm not sorry about that! Anyway...I think we should do it on my talk page, because I somehow can't get the other link to work. (Maybe that should be your first coaching task? ;) Just kidding, unless you want to help me fix it...>grin< )--ViolinGirl 19:23, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
PS And by the way, can you start a new header when we actually begin? I'm archiving soon, and I don't want to archive this stuff so soon. Thanks!
Thanks, I downloaded it. I've never used anything like that before, so I can't wait to see what it's like.--ViolinGirl 19:48, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
>grr! edit conflict, thanks a lot, Banes! ;)< I seriously need some help with that, I'm very confused.--ViolinGirl 19:54, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey there Sango123! I think if ViolinGirl can get the IRC to work then that'd be great, you know, so things can be said alot quicker (I'm also wary of surpassing my number of article edits with talkpage edits, but thats just me). However, if she would prefer to do it on her talk page then thats just fine with me too. Edit count proportions are important, I think if she can achieve a 2:1 ratio of talk to article edits then she should be in the clear, but she does welcome so many new people. In a nom we (I like the idea of you an me co-nom one day, or whoever does it) would explain that. But hey, I should save all that for the coaching! :) Unfortunately I am the "black sheep" as far as timezones go (you're in the states right?), but I am very flexible, and some time in the evening/late afternoon (in UTC) is quite alright for me; it still depends on how we work this. I really like that situation idea, I think it is supurb. All to often I've seen somebody make a small mistake, respond in the wrong way to a situation and go into an RFA set up to fail. As far as policy knowledge, I think ViolinGirl knows a lot of it, but it would be nice to test her knowledge occasionally: "What is the Fifth Pillar of Wikipedia?" sort of thing, but not too much, this aint school.

I was hoping Titoxd would pair you and me (since we both know ViolinGirl) and assign us to ViolinGirl, I'm glad to see he did. I agree fully with you, we do have an outstanding candidate! I look forward to getting started, and sorry for the over-long post. Cheers Banes 19:52, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

(Just been editconflicted, bother)

Er... see this diff :) Titoxd(?!? - help us) 21:00, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and Sango, I forget which userpage I just tried to unvandalize which you beat me to. My edit summary wasn't exactly correct, since you beat me, but I updated the vandalism count. So, no offence at the summary title. :) Just FYI. And, thanks again for all your help today. Mucho Appreciato. ;) --ViolinGirl 02:15, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, just saw your comment. No, there were no times set up. I'm not sure when a good time would be, really. Possibly next week in the afternoon, although that's pretty late for Banes. Also, do you mind giving me a sum-up of what we covered today on my talk page so I have it for reference? I learned a lot, thanks! (Sum up at least consisting of the link to the punctuation thing you mentioned?) Cheers!--ViolinGirl 03:04, 9 January 2006 (UTC)
Thanks, that was great. Glad you could remember all that! :) I really like the IRC thing, thanks for helping me with it. (And yes, that was the userpage!) Cheers!--ViolinGirl 12:41, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

As you can see, we never got around to arrangeing a time I'm afraid. Banes doesnt really mind about lateness, he is somewhat of a night owl. So, any time from 05:00 UTC to 22:00 UTC is fine with me, if you and ViolinGirl can still make it. I think we can call the first meeting a success. Banes 07:49, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Weird goings ons.....[edit]

Hi. May I ask to enlist your help again? You're one of the most informative & knowledgable editors on here, so I wanted to tell you about the strange goings ons on the Dinosaur article, involving the footnotes. If you click on all the footnote links in the section Dinosaur#Notes, you will find that all seems well. All the little, ^ 's go to their appropriate inline number. So if you click on the ^ 's from numbers 1 through to 28, they all go to their appropriate inline number. But when you click on 29's ^ , it goes to the 30th inline ref. If you click on 30's ^ , it goes to 29th ref. 31's ^ goes to 32, 32's ^ goes to 33 & finally 33's ^ goes to 34. I've tried experimenting, but some things I've tried only make it worse! I had the footnotes running perfectly when Dinosaur was on FAC & I was running the show, but ever since this User:WAS 4.250 character started ignoring footnotes, the whole thing's stuffed up!! Please help. I'll ask others too, just incase.... Thanks... Spawn Man 01:25, 9 January 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism...[edit]

Sir, you and peruvianllama can falsely accuse me and warn me of that all you like, I didn't vandalize or put 'nonsense' on the page. I simply wrote what is true. I believe in God and Jesus Christ, and that page is a direct attack on the faith. If you don't like it, don't let people post offensive pages like that. If that person is allowed to write those offensive things on your site, Im allowed to post the truth. A message from ViolinGirl's other coach[edit]

Hi there! I thought I'd drop by to say "well done" regarding Sunday's coaching session, and to ask what you have in mind for the next one? One of your scenario "what would you do" ideas for ViolinGirl? I'm thinking it would be an idea (if we do that) to give her a complicated dispute scenario, or whatever. I've also been reviewing ViolinGirl's edits (I hope she doesnt mind) and am pleased to see that there is nothing in there at all that she has done wrong. Cheers Banes 19:01, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, what to avoid...I think that is a fine idea. I'm sure ViolinGirl wont have any problems with this (she doesnt seem the edit warring type) but just so we can give her a little experience. In case something comes up in her wikicarreer. I presume I'll be seeing you two on Sunday sometime? Banes 08:53, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Admin Coaching[edit]

Hey, Sango! You took your test already, right? How did it go? I was thinking about you. Regarding admin coaching, I'm very confused about next week. Banes is going to be busy on Sunday, and I'm packed full this weekend. Sunday looks good to me in the afternoon, but my mom says she doesn't want me setting up "chat times" weekly :) so I'm not sure what's going to happen. Mind giving me your 2 cents? Ciao. --ViolinGirl 12:29, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Oh. So make that tests. Yuck! There's more than one reason why I am/was homeschooled. :) Unfortunately, that doesn't mean I don't have tests, though. CLEP number four out of about twenty more I have to do in my life scheduled sometime at the end of January...[sarcasm]YAY![/sarcasm] Don't worry too much about Sunday. If you're on, you're on, if you're not, you're not...but, as I told Banes: I don't have insurance on paper cuts for administrators, so I'm not sure I can afford it! ;) I guess you could read this on Banes talk page, but I'm not sure you're the eavesdropping type, so I'm copying it: We're leaving it at unless one of us let the others us know otherwise :), Sunday afternoon. You have to check out what SK left on my userpage after your comment. HILARIOUS! Ok, sounds good. And, unfortunately, just after asking you what TT meant, and stuff, I ran across it in wikipedia. I would have let you known, but I'm doing bad enough at cutting back usertalk edits, and I fear the wrath of the great administrator coaches, so... ;)--ViolinGirl 23:47, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey, and Thanks[edit]

Hey Sango, thanks for your welcome! The new user links will definitely come in handy. I was actually planning to be lurking for a while yet, beheading the passing typo and such, but it looks like that's not my destiny anymore XD. It's as if there's something new in the air when one's talk page has been awakened.

Yeah, I know, bleh, bleh, bleh. ^^ Ahwell. By the way, nice userpage--I think I shall have to add some poetry to the appropriate subpage sooner or later, hehe. Until then--

Thanks again! Weien 22:46, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

PS. By the way--"Sango"--the one with the giant boomerang, right?

Of sharing names and ninja boomerangs[edit]

Ah, alright ^^--care to share the origin of your username, in that case? Pronunciation is always a plus when writing poetry that revolves around a person ;) (i.e. seeing "Sango" and "Mango" paired caught me off-guard when I was thinking of the "Sango" that rhymes with, um, "wrongo" *bad choice off the top of my head* as is pronounced the one with the aforementioned boomerang).

Best of everything, Weien 23:13, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

PS. Ah, I do have a question after all: how does one get their User Talk Posts to... "stack" in that way that's slightly indented with each addition?

Cookie[edit]

Mmm, that was nice. Are there any more? :) :-) :=) :o) (the whole family came out!) [[Sam Korn]] 23:57, 18 January 2006 (UTC)

Reply[edit]

Thanks for the help on indentations; I've needed to use them already (the other stylistic ways of the Wiki I think I can soak up at a relaxed pace)! Oh, and about the meaning of "Sango," I did notice that the Kanji and definition are actually also given right at the top of the Sango (InuYasha) article ^^ (it's also kind of reduntantly re-stated in the "Names" section of the same article... hm... decides to sleep on whether or not to edit it out...)

Anyway, thanks once again. Oh, and about the user page--it's just a placeholder for now XD. Hopefully more professionalistic things to come in the future. Weien 05:07, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Important[edit]

Sango...I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to talk on Sunday. I've been thinking through real life recently, and I believe that Wikipedia is not what God wants me doing right now. As explained here, this doesn't mean I won't ever be on again, but unfortunately, it means I'll have to back out of admin coaching. Help needed on New Page[edit]

I recently tried to add a page for "Shakespeare & Company" a theater group in Minnesota. I suspect my problem is the there is an existing page for "Shakespeare and Company" the bookstore in Paris, France. Trying to access the page I created, I am being redirected t the bookstore's. I tried renaming the new page with the "Move" instruction, but am apparently not allowed to do a simple move on the page. Any suggestions here?

I'm so confused! (RE: Daredevil)[edit]

Hi, Sango--

Thanks as always for your help and counsel in the past. Since the time you first welcomed me to the Wiki community, I've tried to make useful contributions (and even listed them! See User:Tenebrae). Little by little, I've been learning both technical things (such as using a single colon to make a long-quote paragraph stand out, rather than "blockquote"/"end-blockquote") as well as policy things. I have to confess, though, that I've no idea what to do in this case.

There's a user who's clearly very passionate about the Marvel superhero Daredevil, and while "belligerant" might (might) be too strong a word, he's given to removing template tagss, making insulting, personal remarks, and doing wholesale reversions. It's not at a level requiring blocking or banning, or at least I don't believe so, and I couldn't really figure out from Wikipedia:No_personal_attacks, Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal, Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, or anyplace else exactly how to handle this. Any advice you'd have would be great.

Here's the text of what I placed on the User:GodzillaWax Talk page. If you could take a look at the Daredevil History page as well, that, too, would be great:

Your incendiary comments (Wikipedia:No_personal_attacks) on the Daredevil History page are in violation of Wikistandards, as are your reversions of edits made in good faith. I'm not sure why you call me "pepe", but it's inappropriate regardless. You ask, "Inappropriate tone? Are you serious? What do you do for a living, write algebra textbooks?" I'm surprised that writing for a living should be a matter of denigration in your view. Factual material does not have to be dry; pleazse read any of the articles I've created and see for yourself. Factual material does, however have to be accurate, objective, written in a neutral point of view (Wikipedia:Neutral point of view), a.k.a. NPOV, and in any encyclopedia's case and speficially Wikipedia's not use such words such as "currently" or "recently" (Wikipedia:Avoid_statements_that_will_date_quickly). Additionally, the writing should be direct and to the point.
We are also not supposed to remove tag templates; this is not your personal article, but that of all of us.
I am reporting your behavior to the admin. As a final note, and I understand you may scoff, there's just no downside to being courteous to others.

Again, thanks for any help or advice on what to do. All the best — Tenebrae 22:30, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your help and info ... like always, you're a font of common sense and sensibility. Loved the cool-as-a-cucumber pictures! I'll keep you posted.

hi Sango123,

thanks for your message. Well I'm quite excited and looking forward obviously. I can't do the #wikipedia-esperanza unfortunately for some reason it won't work. Hi Sango, I just checked and no I guess I don't have the Irc. So first question, do I really need it for becoming an admin.? (sysop is the same thing as adm., right?). I think we can start communicating on my RfC if that isn't too much trouble for you and Banes :-) Gryffindor 14:31, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

GodzillaWax attack[edit]

Hi, Sango. I hate to bother you, but now he's getting personal on my Talk page and using insulting terms. I wrote a calm reply to his saving Jack Kirby deserved no Daredevil co-creator credit because Marvel doesn't credit him, even though historians and Bill Everett himself said Kirby did.

I'll show you what I wrote in reply on the Daredevil, and the flame I received back two minutes later, which characterized the note below as "rage". I ask you to read these things and judge for yourself.

My response on DD page: Kirby[edit]

Marvel doesn't give Kirby credit for a lot of things. Everett said Kirby contributed -- including coming up with the idea of the billy club, and the record shows Kirby helped designe the costume, a highly integral part of any character's creation.

I footnoted the source in the first graf. I understand you may have missed seeing it. Here's the quoted source, from someone who spoke personally with both Kirby and Everett:

Comics historian and former Kirby assistant Mark Evanier, investigating claims of Kirby's involvement in the creation of both Iron Man and Daredevil, interviewed Kirby and Everett on the subject, years before their deaths, and concluded [1] that, "in both cases, Jack had already drawn the covers of those issues and done some amount of design work. He ... seems to have participated in the design of Daredevil's first costume. ... Everett did tell me that Jack had come up with the idea of Daredevil's billy club. ... Jack, in effect, drew the first page of that first Daredevil story. In the rush to get that seriously late book to press, there wasn't time to complete Page One, so Stan had Sol Brodsky slap together a paste-up that employed Kirby's cover drawing. ... Everett volunteered to me that Jack had "helped him" though he wouldn't — or more likely, couldn't — elaborate on that. He just plain didn't remember it well, and in later years apparently gave others who asked a wide range of answers".

I can see you've been a faithful contributor to the Daredevil entry, going back months. That's a good thing. Sometimes that can make it difficult to accept others edits, even when well-sourced and factual. That's OK. People of all different ages and temperaments work on Wiki, and by and large they make it work. As long as we're all courteous and can back up what we say.

I'm looking forward to more of your work on Daredevil, and I know the more you do, the more interested you'll get in digging into sources. - Tenebrae 18:32, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

His response, on my Talk page: Lighten Up[edit]

First off, you need to calm your nerd rage. Second, in your effort to revise Daredevil, you continually omit facts under the claim that they need sources. Fine. But do a modicum of research on these things to find the source before you remove them completely. You clearly have google at your fingertips, so use it. Third, Kirby is not recognized as a creator of Daredevil. At most he did a sketch on page 1. Marvel does not recognize him as a creator, so neither should wikipedia. Fourth, "style" is not in violation of wiki guidelines. Incoporate some into your work. My dig that you 'must write algebra textbooks for a living' is not a dig at writers. I happen to be one in real life, as shocking as that might be to you. I was suggesting that you are removing any element of readable prose with paint-by-numbers drivel. GodzillaWax 18:34, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Please help me. - Tenebrae 18:43, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Youre Disagreeing With Yourself[edit]

My response to his attacks:

You have yet to produce a credible source that can identify Kirby as a creator of the character. As you have pointed out on numerous occasions, this is an encyclopedia, not a place for conjecture. The universally accepted fact is that Lee and Everett created Daredevil. It is not wiki's job to speculate on whether or not this is 100% true. Youve got your footnote addressing the issue, why is that enough for you?

Which leads to the problems I have with you. Your changes are capricious. You constantly drop fact based statements that are currently unsupported rather than putting any effort into investigating them. This is like going to the Civil War entry and removing a sentence saying "The North won" because there was no credible source. The source is out there. Make an attempt to find it.

Moreover you then inject your own conjecture. Talking about artist changes coming about because of a "kirby run house of ideas" is no more fact than any of the changes you have made.

Lastly, you keep throwing up this 'inappropriate tone' banner and then making changes with worse prose.

If you were making constructive changes, then cheers thats what wiki is for. But you are maliciously changing things and removing facts because they dont suit you. In other words, you are being tyrannical.

To suggest that I should be removed from the page that I helped resurrect is laughable. You call me a fanboy but then refuse to admit any mistakes youre making. I think you should be blocked from this page for an amount of time so that you can cool down and analyse your errors.

Tenebrae is just making malicious changes, insulting me, and then hiding behind a "but gee I tried to be nice" defense. His changes to the Daredevil page have not been in good faith. Instead of contributing, he replaces, often destroying legitimate points to be replaced by incongruous ones. Moreover he lords over the page refusing to admit that a point he deleted may have validity.

It is upsetting to me that he has suggested I get locked out of a page Ive tried very hard to make respectable. I suggest he be removed for some short period of time so he can see that the goal of wikipedia is to contribute not destory. Thanks GodzillaWax 21:01, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

I believe my points stand on their merits, and I have been cordial throughout. I would also point your attention to [2] where his comments on the History page against users other than myself speak for themselves. In addition to his hugely discourteous behavior in general, you can see him on that page (quotes below) getting highly defensive about his purple prose and sometimes bewildering writing:

1) Revision as of 23:16, 19 October 2005 GodzillaWax (Talk | contribs) Personal life - Stop taking out references to Black Widow and DD screwing, cause its f-ing true

[change he made] They still remain occasional partners in coitus. [a phrase he kept defending rather than allowing others to write, for example "occasional lovers". Please, Sango123: You judge whether that phrase is worth the obscenity-laced diatribe of just these two example of many.

2) 14:41, 20 October 2005 GodzillaWax (→Personal life - what is it, sacrilege to suggest two adults have coitus? jesus

- Tenebrae 00:24, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

I would suggest you stop attacking me and actually look at the edits I've made. Some tried to remove the fact that Daredevil and Black Widow had coitus (if it's not a word you understand, look it up). I never had a problem with people saying they were occasional lovers. Re: All that vain stuff - Thanks[edit]

Hello! Thanks a lot for your note — it did comfort me a little. It's just that, I read on Wikipedia:User page and found that one of the things under "What can I not have on my user page" was "excessive personal information (more than a couple of pages)", and so I got all paranoid (as I tend to be). Now, I have no idea what "more than a couple of pages" means. Anyway, is it all sort of ... subjective? Because, as far as I can see, you guys don't seem to mind...

Either way, in the end, if you (and even ViolinGirl) say it's okay (as you did) then I'll just leave it as it is. I just want to make sure that I'm doing everything according to the rules. Sorry for being so paranoid. I guess I'll grow out of it eventually :-P

Thanks!

Wiki policy/guideline Q. for which I can't find answer.[edit]

Hi, Sango. Sorry to bother you again, but I tried Help:Contents, Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, Wikipedia:Template messages, Wikipedia:Template messages/Disputes, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines and Wikipedia:Policies, and I couldn't find an answer anywhere (which is not to say the answer wasn't there, but only that I missed it if it were). I know that "article for deletion" tags are only to be removed by an Admin (after people post comments on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion page). What about the ((inappropriate tone)) tag for articles written in non-encyclopedic style (fannish gushing/purple prose)? Are these removed by an Admin, or by anybody?

Thanks for any help. I know that you're a volunteer, like all of us, but that unlike the rest of us, you're voluntarily not justing writing and editing, but taking time to help others who may or may not have legitimate questions. As I've said before, thank you for doing this, and please know I looked in all those places for an answser before asking for any more of your time, which with you've been generous. Thanks as always, - Tenebrae 06:58, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Starting a new article[edit]

Hey ! I understand you must be very busy (everybody asks for indications.. :) .. so, it's okay if you don't have time to reply. but when you do: how can i post a new article (not edit an existing one ). I found that it works, by typing a name after the written address in the address bar.But by doing so, will link my article to... nothing. Anyways, what is the right "procedure" ? IRC[edit]

There is a debate going on at the esperanza channel. Do you want to join in? Banez 18:41, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Thank you[edit]

for fixing my edit count thing. I got rid of it what, a week ago? and then was busy studying but knew I wanted it back...*bangs head on wall* Thanks...--ViolinGirl 19:03, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Thanks![edit]

I wasn't expecting the Esperanza spam to go out yet. We were still discussing this on the Esperanza IRC channel, but thank you very much for the copy edit! If i can request that you do the same at User:KnowledgeOfSelf/Experiments this is the temp home of the guidelines and general information. It's awaiting a copy edit and confirmation that Essjay will make the award. Thanks so much! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 19:35, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Your changes are like magic to me. The way you reword and format is a huge improvement on my attempts! If you could please copy edit two templates I've created for the project I would appreciate it so much! {{userpageaward}}, and {{upajudge}} Thank you so much in advance. Barnstar[edit]

Thank You Sango123! I appreciate your help very much. If you ever need my assistance please let me know! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 22:39, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

Please accept this Barnstar for the brilliant job you've done with your copy edits of my work! KOS

Ha :-D[edit]

I should thank D-Day for the picture, although that would be a copy right violation...I'm pretty sure it is lol. And thanks for the copy edit of my additions to the page! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 22:43, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

User Page Award[edit]

Are winners of the User Page Award allowed to sign up for subsequent rounds of judging? This hasn't been discussed yet. Banes, Rune.welsh and myself touched on the topic of re-entering if your not chosen as a winner. I'm sure we'll get that question covered in the next 24 hrs! I'll let you know as soon as we decide! KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 23:10, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

I don't mind if you help with the awards design at all! Taking it to the UPA's talk page was a good idea as well. If you haven't I'd like you to let Essjay, Banes, and Rune.welsh know that you are interested in helping with the design!
  • Also we have discussed your question: "Are winners of the User Page Award allowed to sign up for subsequent rounds of judging?" Let me tell you it caused a nice long discussion. Its' been decided that users who win the "UPA" get entered automatically into a separate contest, which will be held monthly. After every 4 contests the winners will be entered and Banes, Rune.welsh, and myself will pick that winner. After that they can no longer go for the award, they can still be a judge, if they haven't already, or if there is not enough judges signed up by the time 15 user pages are nominated. I'll be implementing all this into the UA's pages soon. KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 22:36, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

I don't mind at all, but the person to ask here is Essjay, who's been doing the work on it so far. -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 22:43, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Re: Guess what?[edit]

Well, that won't work! My user page has clearly been pinched from someone else! <looks around vaguely> I hope the person I stole it from doesn't notice ;) ➨ REDVERS 23:13, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

You've jumped the gun![edit]

[3] You even copy edited the template that was going to tell the nominees! :-<> <---- (Me yelling at you!) :-D KnowledgeOfSelf | talk 00:59, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

  • P.S. Check it out [4]
Hey Sango, no complaints from here :D Great work! Banez 06:57, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey there....[edit]

Congratulations, Sango123/Archives/Jan 2006! Your user page has been nominated for the Esperanza User Page Award! Five judges will look over your user page and award it 1-10 points in four categories:

  • Attractiveness: general layout, considering colour scheme and/or use of tables if applicable
  • Usefulness: links to subpages or editing aids, helpful information
  • Interesting-ness: quirky, unique, captivating, or funny content
  • General niceness: at the judges' discretion

But first, you must be chosen as a finalist. If your user page is chosen as one of the five finalists, you'll have the chance to win an award created just for having a great user page!

More information can be found on this page.
