The name refers to a story which points out the worth of small contributions. When the Vanara army (monkey people's army) of Rama was building a bridge using huge stones etc between India and Lanka, they noticed a squirrel rolling in the sand, coming onto the construction site and shaking off the sand stuck to its coat. They observed it keenly and realized that it was trying to help in building of the bridge by making a contribution of the tiny sand particles. The Vanara warriors who were uprooting large hills as building blocks for the bridge laughed at the puny efforts of the squirrel. But Rama noticed the squirrel, acknowledge it's contribution, took it in his palm and stroked it as a symbol of his appreciation.
