This is a WikiProject for eliminating maintenance categories not already managed by another active WikiProject. The idea is simple: if many people each do a little, over time they can achieve a lot. On this page, people can post maintenance categories and pledge to fix a certain number of pages in a given category each month.

Instructions

Pledging

To make a pledge, put the following wikitext under the category you want to work on, below any other pledges:

and replace pledge with the monthly number of pages you intend to fix. Please leave one empty line below this code and zero empty lines above it.

Creating a new entry

To list a new maintenance category, put the following wikitext at the top of the list (below the all-caps comment):

and replace category with the name of the category (with or without the "category:" prefix) and pledge with the monthly number of pages you intend to fix. If you want to list a backlog here, you must pledge to work on it yourself. Optionally, you may also give (estimated) values for the size, influx and growth (in that order) as extra unnamed parameters. Please leave one empty line between this code and the next entry.

Rules

1. A pledge should be the minimum you expect to do each month. If you know you will not make a pledge next month, please adjust it downward.
2. Any editor may adjust a pledge of yours down to the number you fixed in the last month (if you pledged a month or longer ago). The editor must include a wikilink to your user page in the edit summary. (will be a bot task)
3. A pledge of 0 will be removed. (will be a bot task)
4. Categories without any pledges will be removed. (will be a bot task)
5. You may only have 3 categories that you listed here in the "Backlogs to clear" section at a time.
6. If a category and one or more of its subcategories are both listed here, you may either only have pledges in the parent category or only have pledges in the subcategories, not both at a time.
7. Before pledging for a certain backlog, please make sure you know how to work on that backlog.
