Samara National Research University (SU; Russian: Самарский национальный исследовательский университет имени академика С.П. Королева, often abbreviated СУ) is a coeducational and public research university located in Samara, Russia. It was created in 2015 by merging of two Samara universities - Samara State Aerospace University and Samara State University. Samara Universtity was renamed after Sergey Korolev. Its current rector is Evgeniy Shakhmatov.


History[edit]

In the beginning, Nikolay Merkushkin, the Governor of Samara Oblast planned merge of 3 universities - SSAU, SSTU and SSU but decision about refusing from merging has been made on conference for staff of SSTU.

On June 22, 2015 the order about merging of Samara Universities has been signed by Dmitriy Livanov, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
