Born Daniel Richard Greene on June 22, 1987, Danny Green is a collegiate basketball player for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He plays shooting guard and was regarded as one of the best bench players in the country before starting for the Tar Heels his senior season.

- Attended St. Mary's High School in Manhassett, N.Y., and was coached by Tim Cluess
- Played in the McDonald's All-American game
- Beach Ball Classic MVP, Roundball Classic co-MVP (East team)
- Averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four blocks as a senior
- Scored 1,535 career points in three seasons at St. Mary's
- St. Mary's went 74-5 and won three league titles in Long Island, went 25-1 as a senior, lost by two points in the Class AA state CHSAA final
- St. Mary's went 23-2 as a junior and he averaged 16 points, nine rebounds, five blocks and four assists
- All-Long Island selection in each of his last two seasons
- Played at North Babylon High School as a freshman
- Was co-MVP of the 2004 ABCD Camp in Hackensack, N.J.
- Played quarterback on the freshman football team

- Green was selected to be a member of the ACC's All-Defensive Team for the 2008-2009 season.
- Averaged 13.3 ppg, 2.8 apg, 4.7 rpg, 1.3 bpg, 1.8 spg, and shot 41.6% from 3-point range leading up to the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

On March 29, 2006 Green's father, Danny Green Sr., was arrested on drug trafficking charges. New York Police confiscated 462 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated street value of $40 million, $5 million in cash, marijuana and assorted firearms. Green Sr., a gym teacher, said he had no connection to the drug trafficking ring. He pleaded not guilty and bail was set at $7.5 million cash and he remained in jail, maintaining his innocence. After Danny Sr. was in jail for 18 months, a plea bargain was offered him of a lesser charge of conspiracy that would include time served and get him out within six months. He was paroled on January 28, 2008 after serving 22 months in prison.
