Comprehensive Assessment

Centaur

The most likely audience of this article would include people who are just finding their way to mythology and don’t yet know what centaurs are, or people who have heard of the creatures in books or other media and want to know more. They would most likely be looking for information regarding what centaurs are in general and some light mythos of the creatures including their origins and their common characteristics. This article does address a number of these needs with sections such as the “Origins” section, but the organization and scope of these sections is not as well developed as some other articles in this same project (such as brownie and kelpie).

My main focus when considering editing this article is the organization. Some of the sections overlap and some have misleading titles. Clearing up some of this possible confusion in terms of structure will hopefully encourage other editors to add their knowledge. One challenge that I think I will run into with this article is how heavily it relies on the audience having been introduced to mythology previously. For example, the “Origin” section has many references to specific places and people of Greek mythology that might confuse the average reader. Clearing up some of this language into terms that are easier for the novice to know could also benefit how the article evolves moving forward by making it more user friendly.

Sleeping Beauty

The purpose of this article is to describe the tale of Sleeping Beauty to those who might not know the story. There is a secondary purpose of describing the history of how the tale developed over the years and throughout different countries and cultures. The article has a lot of the answers to these questions, though the two different purposes seem to blend together in the article and might lack cohesiveness.

One challenge with this article will be deciding what organizational strategy will be the best way create a comprehensive structure for the article. It can be structured based on time period, story elements, or even by who is the source of each different folk tale variation. Along with this, there is at least one major section of the article that falls into the category of plagiarism which will need to be edited. If this article were reorganized and the incidents of repeating information were removed, this page might have a better flow that would encourage further editing and contribution.
