The American Committees on Foreign Relations (ACFR) was founded in 1995 to promote dialogue between local and regional civic leaders in the United States and foreign relations policy makers and other experts. It is a 33-city confederation of groups that pursue their own interests and control their own programming. National offices are in Washington, D.C. Prior to 1995, the majority of ACFR Committees were part of the National Program of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
