Cool Edit .CEL files

You wrote: "The native CoolEdit audio format has extension .cel - what was this, and is it supported by any other software?" That was a specially-formed mp3 intended for looping. I have no idea what other purposes that file extension might have been used for.

AFAIR, .cel stands for "Audition Loop" (even though "Cool Edit Loop" appears to fit the acronym slighty better :-)). An audio loop is typically an audio snippet which can be repeated or combined (arranged) together with other loops to eventuelly end up in a new song. AFAIK, an "Audition Loop" used MP3/MP3Pro for the audio data. Loop file formats typically also include metadata like "oroginal pitch" and "original tempo" (BpM). I am not aware of any other appliocation which understand the .cel file format. Despite using MP3/MP3Pro as a codec, a .cel file appears not be compatible with MP§/MP3Pro (while MP3 files can be extended with custom data chunks (like the ID3 tags), which are skipped by software which doesn't know them, this appears not to be the approach taken by Audition - at leatst .cel files cannot be renamed as .mp3 and opened in WinAmp).

Since .cel files are based on a lossy format and meant for the special pupose of storing audio loops, I wouldn't consider .cel as the native format. --Klaws (talk) 21:30, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

B-29 or YB-29 ?

I see that you've re-captioned the "rare color photo" on B-29 Superfortress to "YB-29". I didn't think they were at first, but maybe I'm wrong about the YB-29?

• I can't see any of the obvious YB-29 turret variations (NB - I'm no expert!)
• The serials for the YB-29s were 136954 to 136967. I can't read this one perfectly, but it's "13***0" so the only possible in range would be "136960".
• the cited ref does caption the same photo (cropped) as "YB-29s"

So would I be right in thinking that the "YB-29 turrets" were only fitted to the first (Sperry) handful of an already small batch? The rest of the YB-29s thus wouldn't be distinguishable from the main production following? I'd always thought (it seems mistakenly) that they were. Thanks for putting me straight. I've been wondering about this for several weeks (see image talk page). Close examination of the serial, and Joe Baugher's serials database[1] shows that it has to be 41-36960, which is identified as a YB-29. Drutt (talk) 13:18, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

The All Seeing Eye and IL-2

(sorry, lost my wikipedia login and password) Just to tell you that I edited the The All Seeing Eye discussion page, you can find IL-2 servers with XFire (around 900 potential "players") or GameSpy Arcade ("7" players and had several adwares...), and maybe on Steam (content delivery) as you can now purchase it on it (I'll test it soon) EDIT : Steam doesn't provide any server browser for IL-2, only ingame IP :/ (you can delete this post now).--90.60.49.141 (talk) 23:14, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi Drutt, I have userfied the Boisdeffre disambiguation page. It is now at User:Drutt/Boisdeffre. After you've created one of the articles in the list, feel free to move the page back out into mainspace. Hi Drutt, yes, that's the issue - at the moment it is a page dependent on other pages that don't exist, and it doesn't aid navigation which is the aim of disambig pages. But, I just thought of something else - are any of those people covered in a subsection of another article? Because it would be possible to create a shortcut to the section of that article and link there, and then it would aid navigation. It's not an article, it's a disambig, so it wouldn't be suitable to turn the links into plain text. Somno (talk) 03:16, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
