The No. 1 Shoal of China Vacation Area resort is one of the first batch of provincial tourism resort in Guangdong province. It is also the first national AAA level tourist area of Maoming, which is regarded as "the Oriental Hawaii".
The length of this beach is 12 kilometers. There is full of white and soft sandy on the beach. Along the beach of the lateral is a shelter belt. The shelter belt is built in the 1960 s, which is China's first artificial build successful coastal shelter belt.
It has a very high reputation in China. The resort has held many national women's beach volleyball contests. The No. 1 Shoal of China Vacation resort area is made up of the beach area, sea area, seaside resort and the central square area.[1]
Origin of the name[edit]
Why everyone calls it China's first beach, because there are three No.1 things in China.
First of all, shelter belt is the longest national successful coastal shelter belt which was built first. The length of shelter belt is more than 80 kilometers. The giant picture of "The great green wall", which created by The famous traditional Chinese painting master Guan shanyue, is based on this coastal shelter belt.
Second, Chicken Island, the first dive tourism base, is 8 miles away from the shore of the tourist attractions.
The seawater transparency of Chicken Island is the first in China. The visibility of the sea area around it is between 6 and 12 miles. [2]
Besides, the beach measures about 12 Kms by 300 meters. It is full of white and soft sand. This is a good natural beach for bathing and an ideal place for sunbathing. And it could accommodate nearly 100000 people in blue sea silver beach at the same time.
Tourist Attractions[edit]
Yanjing Ling (晏镜岭)[edit]
The elevation of Yanjing Ling is 400 meters. The top of it is a natural observation deck. There are some outposts leaved which were built by the People Liberation Army to guard against Chiang Kai-shek.
Now, is still left many outposts, trenches and caves. The length of the longest cave is 200 meters. The caves have offices and lounges. Today, it has developed into a tourist for climbing.[3]
HuTou mountain （虎头山)[edit]
HuTou mountain is an important part of the No. 1 Shoal of China Vacation Area resort scenic. In 1958, when the provincial Party secretary, Taozhu, came here to inspection and found the mountain just like a head of tiger, so he named it as HuTou mountain.
After that, the government built a pavilion on the top of mountain for the people to watch the sea view.[4]
AoNei sea （澳内海）[edit]
AoNei sea is a small fishing village in Maoming. The traffic is very convenient, because it is located next to the No. 1 Shoal of China Vacation Area resort. The beautiful sunset and innumerable small fishing boats attracted a lot of tourists. It attracts many photography enthusiasts every year.
The cheap and diclinous seafood is also famous here. Many people will come here just in order to eat seafood.[5]

Shuidong duck congee（水东鸭粥）[edit]
Shuidong duck congee is a very famous dish in Dianbai District. Not only the guests from Maoming admire Shuidong duck congee, even if the guests from Guangzhou and Shenzhen also admire it.
Many authentic Shuidong duck congee stores only provide porridge, duck and salad vegetables. But the business can thrive. You can see the magic of Shuidong duck congee.[6]
Seafood[edit]
In Maoming, it is a saying goes, "Do not eat seafood meaning you not enjoy the most authentic Dianbai delicious food." In The No. 1 Shoal of China Vacation Area resort, the seafood of Dianbai is famous for diverse, cheap and fresh. Every local restaurant hardly would use the seafood as specialty.[7]

The convenient transportation to reach The No. 1 Shoal of China Vacation Area resort is bus and car. People could take the bus No.301 or No.309 to here which should spend about one hour. Drive a car to here would be more quick.
