The Entitled Sons are an English band formed in 2022, consisting of brothers Billy (keyboards), Charlie (lead vocals), Rafferty (guitar), Laurie (drums) and their father Graham Swift (bass).

Background[edit]

The Entitled Sons first formed in 2022. They and their parents, Graham Swift and broadcaster and entrepreneur Sarah Beeny, were featured in numerous television documentary series. From 2020, they were featured on the Channel 4 series Sarah Beeny's New Life in the Country. On creating the band's name, mother Beeny said: "When they were talking about a name they realised that because of the TV show some people would think they were entitled, whether that’s true or not. So, they went with it and called themselves The Entitled Sons, which I thought was great."[1]

Career[edit]

2022-present: Debut and Glastonbury[edit]

The Entitled Sons' debut single, "Break", was released on 20 January 2022.[2] The single was first publicly performed live at a pub, which was shown on the Sarah Beeny's New Life in the Country programme. Within a few days, the single reached the top 10 on iTunes.[3] "Break" debuted and peaked at number 45 on the UK Singles Downloads Chart on 28 January 2022.[4] A second single, "Unconditional", was released in March 2022, and is about their mother.

In early 2023, the band competed in the Pilton Stage competition,[5] a contest that provides up-and-coming bands and solo artists of any musical genre from all around the UK the chance to compete for a performance slot at Glastonbury Festival. The Entitled Sons won the competition, alongside joint winners The Autumn Saints.[6][7] The band released the single "Not Invited" in April 2023.[8] Single "It's Time" followed in May 2023.[9] On 9 June 2023, the band released the single "These Days", in aid of Cancer Research UK.[10][11] The single debuted and peaked at number 5 on the UK Singles Downloads Chart Top 100 on 16 June 2023.[12] The band performed at Glastonbury on 22 June 2023.[13][14]
