This template to force font changes for words like Diné or Naabeehó employing no unusual diacretics or symbols. This may^{[dubious – discuss]} be more useful than linking to Navajo text support for certain characters, but it's certainly not necessary for all and is prone to unnecessary bugs and ugly to boot. Move font declarations to MediaWiki:Common.js[edit]

Individual templates should not mess with explicit font declarations. Explicit font declarations are nothing but a bug fix for dumb browsers. Normal browsers are perfectly capable of selecting appropriate fonts by themselves and should not be affected by that bug fix. If there is an explicit font declaration in some individual template, it will negatively affect the consistency of the font display in all browser.

The way to go is using MediaWiki:Common.js for a font declaration that only selectively only targets the dumb browsers, so the consistency of the font display in normal browsers is not affected.

I am now removing the explicit font declarations from this template and replacing them with class="Unicode". Like this, MediaWiki:Common.js will use a font declaration only for dumb browsers, while other browsers are no longer affected.

If for some reason class="Unicode" is not good enough for Navajo, please contact an administrator so it can be amplified or so an explicit class="Navajo-font can be created. --mach 🙈🙉🙊 11:19, 1 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
