uss pigeon[edit]

What is the "incident" referred to as happening on 2 September?

PatrickGuadalupe (talk) 06:28, 26 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is it a reference to 31 August hurricane?

see http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/USN/USN-Chron/USN-Chron-1939.html

which says

"October 11, Wed. -- Submarine rescue vessel Pigeon (ASR-6), driven aground at Tsingtao, China, by a severe hurricane on 31 August, is refloated."

The Wiki article on USS Pigeon needs to mention this.

Wiki's article "List of shipwrecks in September 1939" lists Pigeon as being " driven ashore in a typhoon in China" on 2 September, but gives no reference.

In any case, the USS Pigeon article still makes no mention of any hurricane or typhoon event.
