Template-protected edit request on 6 June 2016[edit]

Please add a |translit parameter per Template:Lang-pa/sandbox. Thanks. Btw, unsure if the template should be protected with just a few hundred transclusions. PanchoS (talk) 12:39, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think the overall family is protected, which is why a low-user template is protected. Would you mind using a parameter named |transliteration= instead? --Izno (talk) 13:06, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Izno: There has already been a precedence set with {{Language with name and transliteration}} with |translit=. The param has already been rolled out to {{Lang-he}}, {{Lang-ar}}, {{Lang-fa}}, {{Lang-arc}}, {{Lang-ru}}, etc. The code for the change is essentially the code in one of those templates. — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 14:43, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I synced to the sandbox. If anyone was interested in some more context behind {{Language with name and transliteration}}, see this TfD related to {{Lang-ar}}. If there are any issues, please don't hesitate to ping. Closing this out, thanks. — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 16:49, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Shahmukhi & Gurmukhi[edit]

On Wiktionary, users are able to add text in both scripts. Can someone implement a similar feature for Wikipedia, as it would be more convenient than having to write Shahmukhi and Gurmukhi separately and name them?

I wish to add a bit of code which will allow editors to write text both in Shahmukhi and Gurmukhi, instead of having to seperate them and use multiple templates. Example of this would be for Kartarpur Corridor :

Not done: please make your requested changes to the template's sandbox first; see WP:TESTCASES. * Pppery * it has begun... 15:09, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
