Could the template be edited so that it produces Gaelic:... rather than Scottish Gaelic:...? Since it is only used for things associated with Scotland, it should be fairly obvious that it refers to Scottish and not Irish Gaelic. Thus including the "Scottish" qualifier only serves to add unnecessary clutter at the beginning of articles. Zacwill16 (talk) 16:03, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please replace the contents of this template with the contents of the sandbox, to which I have added |lit={{{lit|}}}, which adds an option to include a literal translation. This template is also missing the |links={{{links}}}, which I have also added. These changes will make this template consistent with the template’s documentation and other lang-x templates. Can the template please be changed so that it redirects to the Scottish Gaelic page instead of piping to the Scottish Gaelic Language redirect? Example: Scottish Gaelic: Geamannan a 'Cho-fhlaitheis 1986. When the word Scottish Gaelic is clicked, it is piped with the redirect Scottish Gaelic Language which is quite unnecessary. The relevant code is in Module:Lang: table.insert (out, make_wikilink (language_name .. ' language', language_name)); -- language name with wikilink. I believe that it can be overridden, but it would become an unnecessary maintenance hassle.
