It seems that the distinction between chinjugami and chinjusha (which house chunjugami) is a fine one; one of the sources for the hook fact (the only one that's online) is actually about chinjugami rather than chinjusha. As far as I can tell it still looks like it supports the hook (the source seems to say that chinjugami are guardian spirits over a particular house, family, geographical area, or tract of land, whereas the hook says chinjusha protect particular temples, which seems like a similar claim to me), but just in case there are any nuanced differences between these claims I'd rather leave the rest of the verification to someone who understands this topic better. rʨanaɢ (talk) 13:38, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Yes, that part is clear. What wasn't clear to me is whether the source confirms what the hook says, since the source seems to be entirely about chinjugami and doesn't mention chinjusha (as far as I remember). rʨanaɢ (talk) 01:59, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

• 16px Most things check out, but I spotted close paraphrasing at "Behind the inclusion within a shrine of Buddhist religious objects was the idea that the kami were lost beings in need of liberation through the power of Buddha" (source: "Behind the establishment of jingūji at that time was the theory that kami were lost and suffering sentient beings who were in need of liberation through the power of the Buddhist teachings").
