1992 United Kingdom local elections[edit]

When I created this template, I initially included a link to 1992 United Kingdom local elections as a few other general election templates have similar links. However I have now removed this as (unlike 2010 for instance) the 1992 United Kingdom local elections were not held on the same day as the 1992 United Kingdom general election, but were held a few weeks later. However there is a link between the two contests as the Conservatives' surprise win the general election could to an extent be said to have foreshadowed and influenced their even stronger performance in the local elections (which was also something of a surprise). That said I do not think it is enough of a link for it to be included in the template, but if anyone feels otherwise then I am happy to discuss as I know Template:2017 United Kingdom general election includes the a link to the 2017 United Kingdom local elections which were held prior to the 2017 United Kingdom general election, albeit in that case during the general election campaign and in Scotland for example, clearly having an impact on what happened at the general election. Shy Tory factor[edit]

I have added a link to the Shy Tory factor article as although it relates to more than one election the 1992 election is covered in the article in some depth and the shy tory factor is often used in discussions as to why the election result did not match the polls.
