Some explanations[edit]

I have tried to follow similar templates when creating this one, but I should not a few things. As the Ulster Unionist Party took the Conservative whip at this point - and most figures for number of MPs count them as Conservatives - I have put them as a sub-group of the Conservatives. I have included James Chichester-Clark as their leader, but I am in two minds about this as the Party's MPs were clearly elected to back a Heath Government, so I am open to further discussion. Unity due to its nature did not have a formal leader so I have listed it with the parties represented, but not named a leader. I have included Accession of the United Kingdom to the European Communities as see also as it was a direct consequence of the election result and was an issue during the campaign.
