Travesti (gender identity)

Source: International Journal of Social Psychiatry. Quote: "The aim of this article is to provide a narrative literature review of the ‘third gender’ phenomenon in Brazil (Travestis), India (Hijras) and Mexico (Muxes), considering the social stigma, the legal and health aspects of these identities."

    • ALT1:... that the exclusion, harassment and murder of the travesti communities are commonplace throughout Latin America?

Source: Transgender Rights (p. 267) . Quote: "The death of Alejandra Galicio represented the last step of an uninterrupted ladder of violence that permanently oppresses Argentinean and Latin American travesti communitites. The same stories of exclusion, discrimination, harassment, arbitrary detentions, tortures, and murders are reproduced far and wide throughout the continent."

  • Comment: A nice addition, considering June to be Pride Month.

Article is 35,476 prose characters (based on DYK Check) as of June 14, 2021. It was 9062 on March 15 and increased to 11605 on June 9. (This nomination is listed under June 2, but the expansion started on June 9 as best I can tell.) A 5x expansion from 9062 would be 45,310. The article is currently ~10K short of that. It is an interesting article, but doesn't seem to qualify for DYK at this time. QuakerSquirrel (talk) 17:18, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
QuakerSquirrel I realize now that I rushed to nominate the article. If I'm understanding correctly, the article now qualifies in terms of expansion. Is the nomination closed or still standing? Thank you, Rumba Samba Mambo (talk) 22:05, 14 June 2021 (UTC)
As of June 15, it is now a 5x expansion compared to March 15. I think another reviewer should take a look at this time. QuakerSquirrel (talk) 12:50, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
  • @Rumba Samba Mambo: This substantial article is a five-fold expansion and is new enough and now plenty long enough. The hook facts are cited inline and either hook could be used, the article is neutral, and I detected no copyright issues. No QPQ is needed here. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:43, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
